Job Summary

Job Description
Duties including but are not limited to:
  • 85%: Assist Office Manager and BCS staff by performing primary receptionist duties and operations of career services front desk in Capitol Federal Hall to ensure quality service is provided to students. Answering incoming phone calls and addressing caller needs. Scheduling student appointments with business career advisors or area industry mentors and checking in students for drop-in and scheduled career advising.
  • 10%: Answering general information regarding Capitol Federal Hall and the School of Business.
  • 5%: Provide additional support as needed and directed by full-time staff members; other duties as assigned.

  1. Must be a current Business or Pre-Business student.
  2. Ability to work 13.5 hours per week MWF 12:30-5:00 PM or 9 hours per week TR 12:30-5:00 PM.
  3. A friendly professional receptionist who pays attention to detail communicates well (written and verbal as shown in application materials)and is committed to assisting people.
  4. Prior experience demonstrating the capability to be ateam player who prioritizes and adapts to staff requests while able to follow directions show initiative and work independently.
  5. Prior experience working with various online platforms software and Microsoft Office programs.
  6. Must not share confidential information.


  1. Student with a graduation date of 2028 or later.


Position Overview
KU School of Business invites students to submit application materials for consideration of key Student Assistant positions for the Business Career Services (BCS) program. These positions provide information assistance and customer service to students utilizing BCS.

Throughout their employment student employees will maintain and manifest positive actions that align with and support the Code of Conduct for the School of Business.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments).

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
