Job Summary

Grand Forks County is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Human Resources Summer Intern to join our team through the INTERNGF program. This internship provides hands-on experience in a variety of HR functions and is a great opportunity to gain practical knowledge in a professional setting.

This opportunity is available exclusively to University of North Dakota (UND) students and offers hands-on experience supporting HR processes and systems within a public sector environment.

The internship is approximately from August 24 - December 22 2026.

As a Human Resources Intern you will assist with a variety of tasks including but not limited to:

  • Assist with developing and improving the employee onboarding process
  • Perform data entry and updates within our HRIS system
  • Support recruitment efforts including drafting job postings reviewing applications and recommending candidates to hiring managers
  • Assist with preparing and updating the employee benefits guide for fall open enrollment
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources Business or a related field at UND
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)

Throughout your internship youll work closely with the HR team and gain exposure to the day-to-day operations that keep an organization running smoothly with exposure to the public sector HR operations and most importantly the opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects.

Status and Hours: Part-time not benefit eligible for the fall semester. Approximately 10 - 20 hours per week with a flexible schedule to accommodate class commitments. This position is not eligible to telecommute.
