Data Engineer II , NA Stores Expansion

The North American Stores Expansion Team is seeking an experienced and motivated Data Engineer to work on driving strategic projects across multiple geographies. We collaborate with Retail SCOT (Supply Chain Optimization Technologies) AIT (Amazon Inbound Transportation) Vendor Negotiations and Canada Product teams to develop scalable analytics applications AI/ML products and research models that optimize operations and enable business expansion. The environment is fast-paced with constant new challenges to solve.

The ideal candidate will have good leadership skills proven ability to develop enhance automate and manage analytics models and data pipelines. The candidate will have strong data mining and modeling skills and will be comfortable facilitating idea creation and working from concept through to execution. This role will also build tools and support structures needed to analyze data and dive deep to determine root causes of systems errors. The candidate will also have the opportunity to present findings to cross functional team partners to drive improvements. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to work with Applied Scientists Data Scientists Software Development Engineers Product Managers and Business Partners to solve challenging analytical problems. The candidate must be comfortable using intellect curiosity and technical ability to develop innovative solutions to business problems. The position requires ability to learn different aspects of the business and understand how to apply advanced analytics to solve high impact problems.

A qualified candidate must have demonstrated ability to manage medium and large scale automation and modeling projects identify requirements and build methodology and tools that are mathematically grounded but also explainable operationally apply technical skills allowing the models to adapt to changing attributes. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must as this role will be in frequent contact with leadership. The person in this role will be expected to provide clear and concise explanation to results and approaches as well as provide opinion and guidance on problem solving.

Key job responsibilities
Design develop and maintain scalable data models ETL/ELT processes and ML pipelines using AWS services (S3 Redshift Glue Athena Lake Formation)

Analyze business data to optimize key processes in Retail and Supply Chain domains

Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Scientists Engineers Program Managers) to deliver data solutions and implement predictive models

Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines while ensuring data governance security and compliance standards

Monitor optimize and enhance data infrastructure to support analytics and machine learning

Stay current with emerging technologies and mentor junior engineers in data engineering and MLOps best practices

- Experience with data modeling warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- 3 years of data engineering experience
- Bachelors degree

- Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift S3 AWS Glue EMR Kinesis FireHose Lambda and IAM roles and permissions
- Experience with non-relational databases / data stores (object storage document or key-value stores graph databases column-family databases)
- Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices.
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products workflows or customer experiences.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
