A Brief Overview
Provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. Assists in maintaining a safe environment acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of patients provides empathic active listening skills engagement and support case management and ensures a recovery-oriented environment throughout the addition provides indirect unit support needs related to supplies and equipment.

Essential Functions

• • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participants hopes and dreams and the solutions they are seeking.
  • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
  • Models hope personal responsibility and self-advocacy to demonstrate how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained.
  • Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
  • Cultivates connectedness in the persons life (self others the environment and to meaning and purpose).
  • Coordinates with the individuals clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
  • Completes clinical documentation as required.
  • Understands and adheres to organizations compliance standards as they appear in the Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Required

Experience Qualifications

• Lived experience with mental health and/or substance use challenges Required and
• Healthcare student or comparable work experience in a health care environment Preferred

Skills and Abilities

• Excellent communication and behavioral management skills that promote safety Basic computer skills Ability to problem solve Ability to document per regulatory guidelines Effective communication skills

Licenses and Certifications

• Peer Employment Training - Certification as a Peer Support Specialist Required and
• BLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association Upon Hire Required and
• Safety-Care Specialist within 60 Days Required
• Minimum of 18 years of age Required
