Essential Functions:
- Administers massage therapy treatment to promote relaxation and improve pulmonary function utilizing stress reduction techniques and other modalities. Observes and modifies treatment plans to meet needs and achieve goals.
- Conducts educational programs for hospital staff students and community. Delegates to students from accredited programs and unlicensed personnel supervising care provided.
- Documents as appropriate and in compliance with requirements of the hospital and accrediting associations. Maintains the administrative functions of individual caseload including scheduling entering daily charges and submitting timely documentation.
- Educates on treatment goals and therapy plans instructs on massage therapy activities and evaluates ongoing compliance and understanding.
- Evaluates patients to determine appropriateness of massage therapy services. Establishes goals and develops an individualized treatment plan. Communicates status and collaborates with physicians third-party payors and relevant healthcare providers.
- Recommends and secures patient referrals to community agencies to ensure continuity of care.
Education Requirement:
Completion of basic Curriculum for Therapeutic Massage from an accredited School of Massage Therapy required.
Licensure Requirement:
Licensure by the State of Ohio Medical Board required.
Certifications:
- Certification in Neuromuscular and Myofascial Massage Therapy preferred.
- Certification in Newborn Massage Therapy or Infant Massage preferred.
Skills:
Strong interpersonal skills verbal and written communication skills.
Experience:
Massage therapy experience in a hospital or pediatric setting or clinical affiliation in pediatrics required.
