JOB TITLE:Logistics Coordinator (Shipping & Receiving)
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Responsible for tracking documenting and processing routine freight movements both inbound and outbound. Duties include validating shipment details against purchase orders invoices and bills of lading preparing items for transit and handling deliveries to outside parties. Also manages receipt of supplier goods and coordinates internal material transfers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT (ADA COMPLIANT):
Requires prolonged periods of standing stooping crouching bending and overhead reaching
Frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs unassisted; team-lift or mechanical aid required for heavier loads
Regular exposure to standard shop-floor conditions including equipment noise and airborne metal particles
Repetitive motion involving hands wrists and arms throughout the workday
PRIMARY EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS:
Forklifts / powered industrial vehicles
Company-owned box trucks and vans
Industrial floor scales
Computer workstations with inventory software
Manual hand tools (wrenches cutters strapping equipment)
Stationary table saw for crate fabrication
Overhead cranes and hoists
JOB DUTIES & DAILY ACTIVITIES:
Fabricate shipping containers including boxes cartons and wooden crates to meet customer specifications
Receive incoming freight verify counts and condition and direct items to appropriate storage or production areas
Enter receiving transactions into the companys computer-based tracking system
Prepare outbound shipments in line with documented client packaging guidelines
Maintain up-to-date shipping logs and inventory records for audit purposes
Complete bills of lading and coordinate freight carrier scheduling
Access customer online portals to retrieve advance shipping notifications generate barcodes and print required shipping labels
Arrange local pickup and drop-off schedules with nearby vendors and client sites
Drive company vehicles for occasional trips to supplier and customer facilities within the local Kansas region
Partner with Purchasing Production Warehouse Customer Support and Engineering teams to align material movement scheduling and packaging needs
Support the movement of goods between internal departments off-site suppliers and customer locations
Demonstrate working knowledge of hazardous materials handling protocols and interstate/international freight regulations
Retain and validate all shipping-related paperwork for compliance purposes
Perform light preventative maintenance on equipment and fleet vehicles
Maintain a clean hazard-free workspace in line with housekeeping standards
Be available for overtime shifts on short notice as operational needs arise
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required
3 to 5 years of hands-on experience in logistics warehouse operations or shipping/receiving
Mechanical aptitude and a strong work ethic highly preferred
Must obtain forklift operator certification within 90 days of hire
Valid Kansas drivers license; CDL-B preferred or ability to obtain within 90 days if required for the role
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including spreadsheets and word processing
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Familiarity with customer-specific packaging rules and shipping portals
