TEMPORARY SE SUMMER ACADEMY VACANCY
Professional and temporary teaching staff are needed for a Special Education Summer Academy program which supports K-8 classes at Rochester Community Schools. Applications for these temporary positions will be accepted until they are filled.
Teachers will be expected to implement innovative instructional techniques to improve student achievement. Emphasis will be placed on higher-level thinking skills organizational skills integration of knowledge connecting learning to prior knowledge cooperative learning active learner participation and technology integration. A summary of what was covered in the program will be shared with parents via a written progress report on the programs last day. The actual number of positions depends on enrollment.
This special education teacher role will support students with complex needs including behavior and communication differences. The teacher will be responsible for differentiating instruction to the students level. Classrooms will be staffed with paraeducators for additional student support. Progress reports will be required for parents on the last day of the program. Substitute teachers are not available during this summers programming.
McGregor Elementary
June-30 July 1 2 (12 days)
Staff Hours: 8:00 am 12:30 pm
Student Hours: 8:15 am 12:15 pm
Mandatory Staff Meeting and Room Prep: June 11th (8:00 am 12:30 pm)
Mandatory Clean-up/Check-out: July 2nd (stay until 1:00 pm)
Interviews are scheduled in April.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
- Experience working with special education students with complex needs.
- Desire to work with at-risk students.
- Willingness to work with students who need to be academically challenged.
- Must be available to work the entire length of the program.
SALARY:
The stipend of $ 2950 (funded through a grant) is contingent on meeting all designated working days and will be adjusted accordingly if any are missed. ($50/hr x 59 hours)

Selection for these temporary positions will be made by the Summer Learning Program administrators based on the applicants experience qualifications and professional attributes.
