GIBB Mining a subsidiary of the GIBB Group is looking for another talented professional to complement their team in the form of a Package Manager: Civil
The below listed responsibilities and requirements will be assessed during the interview stages and will further be confirmed with the relevant professional references that you currently are or have reported to in your previously two positions.
Key Attributes:
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles related to mining and bulk materials handling infrastructure including earthworks concrete structures roads stormwater water management systems and structural interfaces. Good knowledge of MHSA OHSA and NEMA requirements is essential.
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Ability to develop and manage detailed work package schedules aligned with the overall project programme. Proficiency in MS Project is essential.
- Risk Management: Ability to identify and manage project and package-level risks particularly those impacting critical path activities.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills including report writing and stakeholder engagement. Proficiency in Word Excel and PowerPoint is required.
- Budget Management: Ability to monitor cost and schedule performance ensuring alignment with project budget through formal change control processes.
- Leadership: Ability to lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary teams contractors and stakeholders.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical capability to resolve technical and construction challenges.
- Contract Management: Sound knowledge of NEC (Option A/E) and FIDIC contracts including contract administration and claims management.
- Regulatory Compliance: Understanding of applicable health safety and environmental legislation.
- Client Relationship Management: Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
- Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively in a dynamic project environment.

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the health safety and environmental performance of the assigned civil work packages.
- Oversee the technical development design coordination procurement and execution of civil packages.
- Deliver civil scope within approved schedule cost and quality requirements.
- Participate in and drive constructability and design review sessions.
- Manage civil construction activities including earthworks concrete works roads water management systems and associated infrastructure.
- Identify and manage risks particularly those impacting the critical path.
- Lead weekly and monthly progress meetings and ensure accurate reporting.
- Coordinate interfaces between engineering procurement and construction teams.
- Manage contractors and ensure compliance with scope specifications and programme.
- Support NEC contract administration including Early Warnings Compensation Events and PMIs.
- Ensure proper control of scope changes and associated cost implications.
- Oversee RFQ development technical evaluations and contractor alignment.
- Ensure compliance with quality management systems and project procedures.
- Monitor productivity and implement corrective actions where required.
- Ensure all work is properly authorised and supported by contractual documentation.
- Maintain accurate progress cost and performance reporting.
- Support preparation of handover documentation including as-builts and databooks.
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture aligned with company and client standards.
Qualifications:
- BSc / BEng / BTech in Civil Engineering
- Professional registration (Pr Eng / Pr Tech Eng) preferred
- PMP advantageous
Experience:
- Minimum 1015 years experience in civil engineering construction and project management
- Experience in EPC/EPCM environments within mining or heavy industrial projects
- Experience in bulk earthworks concrete structures and infrastructure projects
- Experience working in similar client environments advantageous
