The Department of Climate Change Energy the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) is seeking a Safety Systems and Reporting Officer to support the effective management of work health and safety systems data and reporting across the department.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with WHS systems and data building meaningful reports and dashboards and translating complex information into clear insights that support better decisionmaking.

About the role
In this role you will manage and maintain the Departments Safety Management System (SMS) and associated WHS reporting frameworks. Youll work with multiple data sources to ensure information is accurate consistent and fit for purpose and develop both standard and adhoc reports to support managers and stakeholders.

Youll also analyse WHS data to identify trends emerging risks and improvement opportunities and provide practical advice to support WHS initiatives and projects across DCCEEW.

What youll be doing

  • Managing and maintaining the Departments Safety Management System policies procedures and tools
  • Ensuring WHS data integrity across multiple systems through validation cleansing and governance
  • Developing and improving standard and adhoc WHS reports and dashboards (Power BI Excel)
  • Analysing WHS data to identify trends risks gaps and improvement opportunities
  • Providing clear practical reporting and advice to support WHS projects and initiatives
  • Translating technical safety data into insights that stakeholders can easily understand and act on

About you
Youll bring a blend of WHS knowledge data smarts and strong communication skills with experience such as:

  • Qualifications in Work Health and Safety data analytics information management or equivalent experience
  • Sound knowledge of WHS legislation standards and safety management systems
  • Strong experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI and advanced Excel
  • A sharp eye for data quality integrity and continuous improvement
  • The ability to explain complex information clearly to diverse audiences
