Position Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading plant operations supervising production teams and ensuring safe efficient and cost-effective performance. This role partners cross-functionally with maintenance engineering and leadership teams to meet production goals and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop hourly workforce to achieve safety quality and production targets
- Oversee day-to-day plant operations and ensure equipment reliability in collaboration with maintenance teams
- Drive operational planning including scheduling budgeting and process improvements
- Ensure proper operation of mobile and stationary equipment in line with best practices
- Maintain compliance with quality health safety and environmental standards including audits and training
- Support capital planning and execution alongside engineering and plant leadership
- Align production schedules with customer demand and sales requirements
- Manage administrative responsibilities including reporting forecasting and workforce planning
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Electrical or Process Engineering OR equivalent hands-on experience
- Minimum:
- 5 years in an industrial production environment (with degree) OR
- 7 years of progressive operations/production leadership experience (without degree)
- Experience in mineral processing or similar heavy industrial environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Experience with ERP or operations planning systems (e.g. JD Edwards or similar)
- Demonstrated leadership and team management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across diverse teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineering background within manufacturing or processing environments
- Prior experience as an Operations Supervisor or similar leadership role
Must-Have Requirements
- Valid drivers license
- Ability to work in an industrial plant environment including:
- Climbing reaching stooping kneeling walking
- Lifting up to approximately 25 pounds
- Hands-on experience in mineral processing
