Job Title: Mainframe Application Analyst
Location: West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT)
Employment Type: Temporary / Contract (IT Staffing Services)
About the Role
The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is seeking a skilled Mainframe Application Analyst to join our team on a temporary contract this role you will support legacy mainframe systems essential to WVDOTs operations. You will perform analysis design and development efforts while collaborating with project managers business analysts database administrators application analysts business policy staff and workers.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL CICS and JCL
Perform analysis and design of mainframe-based systems
Work with relational databases to support data integrity performance and reporting needs
Troubleshoot and optimize existing mainframe applications to ensure high availability and performance for WVDOT systems
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholdersincluding business policy staff and technical teamsto translate business requirements into technical solutions
Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Support senior analysts and lead developers on larger projects as needed
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Mainframe Development Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of mainframe application development experience using COBOL CICS and JCL
Relational Database Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of relational database experience
Analysis & Design Experience:
Minimum of three (3) years of analysis and design experience
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with project managers business analysts database administrators (DBAs) application analysts business policy staff and workers
Preferred Skills (Not Required but a Plus)
Experience in transportation or government IT environments
Associate or Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Systems or a related field
Familiarity with change management and documentation standards in a public sector setting
Experience with additional mainframe tools or utilities

4.1.2.1 Mainframe Application Analyst must have a minimum of three (3) years of Mainframe Application development experience using COBOL CICS and JCL. 4.1.2.2 Mainframe Application Analyst must have a minimum of three (3) years of Relational Database experience. 4.1.2.3 Mainframe Application Analyst must have a minimum of three (3) years of Analysis and Design experience. 4.1.2.4 Mainframe Application Analyst should have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written) to communicate with various stakeholders including but not limited to project managers business analysts database administrators and application analysts as well as business policy staff and workers.
