Job Title: Application Oracle Database Administrator (IT Temporary Staffing Services)
Location: West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT)
Employment Type: Temporary / Contract (IT Staffing Services)
About the Role
The West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) is seeking a skilled Application Oracle Database Administrator to join our team on a temporary contract this role you will be responsible for the maintenance management and optimization of Oracle database systems that support essential WVDOT operations. You will assist programming staff with PL/SQL debugging and ensure high availability and performance of database environments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and manage Oracle database systems to ensure high availability performance and security
Provide connectivity to Oracle databases for applications and users
Assist programming staff in debugging triggers procedures functions and packages (PL/SQL code)
Optimize SQL execution for Oracle SQL procedures functions packages and triggers
Write and maintain UNIX/LINUX shell scripts in HP UNIX and/or RedHat LINUX environments
Utilize Oracle RMAN for backup operations including full and incremental backups and database cloning
Collaborate with application analysts project managers and business stakeholders to support database-related needs
Produce clear technical documentation and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements
Required Qualifications
Education (one of the following):
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution OR
Minimum of three (3) years of equivalent work experience as a direct substitution for the Bachelors degree
Oracle Database Maintenance & Management:
Minimum of five (5) years of experience with the maintenance and management of Oracle database systems
Oracle Connectivity:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in providing connectivity to an Oracle database
PL/SQL Debugging Assistance:
Minimum of two (2) years providing assistance to programming staff in debugging triggers procedures functions and packages (PL/SQL Code)
SQL Optimization:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in optimizing SQL execution for Oracle SQL procedures functions packages and triggers
UNIX/LINUX Shell Scripting:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in writing and maintaining UNIX/LINUX shell scripts in HP UNIX and/or RedHat LINUX environment
Oracle RMAN Backup:
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the utilization of Oracle RMAN backup to include full and incremental backups and cloning a database
Communication Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated ability to work with project managers business analysts application analysts programming staff and business stakeholders
Preferred Skills (Not Required but a Plus)
Experience in transportation or government IT environments
Oracle certification (e.g. Oracle Certified Associate - DBA)
Experience with data modeling
Familiarity with Oracle Warehouse Builder
Knowledge of fine grain access control in Oracle databases
Familiarity with public sector database security and compliance standards
Required Skills:
4.1.4.1 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of five (5) years of experience with the maintenance and management of Oracle database systems. 4.1.4.2 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution or a minimum of three (3) years of equivalent work experience as a substitution for the Bachelors Degree. 4.1.4.3 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of two (3) years of experience in providing connectivity to an Oracle Database. 4.1.4.4 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of two (3) years providing assistance to programming staff in debugging triggers procedures functions and packages (PL/SQL Code). 4.1.4.5 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of two (3) years in optimizing SQL execution for Oracle SQL procedures functions packages and triggers. 4.1.4.6 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of two (3) years of experience in writing and maintaining UNIX/LINUX shell scripts in HP UNIX and/or RedHat LINUX environment. 4.1.4.7 Application Oracle Database Administrator must have a minimum of two (3) years of experience in the utilization of Oracle RMAN backup to include full and incremental backups and cloning a database.
