In one sentence

In charge of the architectural roadmap the Azure Cloud Architect will play a strategic role at the intersection of Capacity Planning Cloud Architecture and FinOps ensuring that cloud growth performance and cost efficiency remain tightly aligned with business objectives. This role partners with Capacity Engineers Dev teams TAC Architects FinOps and Product stakeholders to design elastic costefficient and reliable Azure architectures across multicloud environments.

The architect acts as the technical owner of resource planning quota governance forecasting inputs and costoptimized design patterns ensuring both performance stability and financial accountability.

What will your job look like

Cloud Architecture & Engineering

• Design Azurenative and hybrid architectures supporting highvolume highly available systems.
• Ensure solutions adhere to performance thresholds (IOPS throughput latency) and regional SKU availability limits.
• Provide architecture guardrails and modernization roadmaps to engineering teams (containers microservices data platforms).
• Create scalable design patterns for predictable peak handling and future growth.

Capacity Planning Architecture

• Translate demand signals from TAC/Core Dev into architectureready capacity requirements.
• Validate forecasted growth against Azure quotas subscription limits and resource availability.
• Partner with Capacity Engineers on modeling telemetry interpretation and performance testing outcomes.
• Review and approve architectures during Monthly Capacity Reviews and PreLaunch Readiness (PRR) gates.

FinOps Alignment & Cloud Cost Optimization

• Collaborate with FinOps to ensure architectural decisions support cost governance including:
  • Reservations / Savings Plan alignment
  • Resource rightsizing
  • Cost avoidance recommendations
  • Waste elimination
• Provide architecture impact assessments for cost anomalies and monthly variance analyses.
• Ensure tagging standards cost attribution models and usage telemetry are supported in design.

Telemetry Tooling & Automation

• Leverage Azure Monitor Log Analytics Insights and custom dashboards (Grafana/PowerBI) for capacity signals.
• Define architecture requirements for forecasting engines (ML business demand seasonal trends).
• Support InfrastructureasCode (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) standards for quota governance deployments and resource compliance.

CrossFunctional Governance

• Act as a key stakeholder in the Golden Triangle Governance Loop:
  • Forecasting (quarterly) validate future features & migrations
  • Assessment (monthly) ensure headroom and quota alignment
  • Execution guide scaling strategy (horizontal/vertical) and financial commitments

Ensure architecture signoff for any changes impacting capacity cost or reliability.

All you need is...

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent - information technology management information systems software engineering and networking.
• At least 7 years of experience in Cloud Architecture with expertise inMicrosoft Azure.
• Strong understanding of Azure compute storage networking scaling constructs reservations and quota boundaries.
• Demonstrated experience partnering withFinOpson cloud cost efficiency.
• Handson experience with performance engineering telemetry and workload modeling.
• Proficiency with IaC tools (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Ability to translate forecasting business events and workload characteristics into architectural capacity requirements.
