What will you do as Director Asset Management - Battery Energy Storage
As Director Asset Management you are a crucial member in the Vopak Battery Energy Storage team. We are developing large (>100 MW) BESS Projects throughout the global Vopak network of terminals and new your role you will be responsible for developing and implementing the technical and operational performance philosophy for Vopaks growing global battery fleet.
The Director Asset Management is responsible for the BESS performance (e.g. guaranteed availability) regulatory compliance integrity management contract management and reporting to capacity offtakers and other stakeholders.
What do we expect from you
Master in engineering (electrical mechanical energy management or equivalent);
5-10 years of proven track record in senior Asset Management / Operations roles for utility scale high-CAPEX power assets (e.g. power plants renewable projects BESS high voltage substations);
Familiar with battery performance characteristics and value drivers (RTE SoH degradation availability DoD downtime minimization etc);
Experience in setting up asset management system and organization;
Knowledge of- and familiarity with- state-of-art asset management IT/OT platforms for monitoring and managing performance of remote assets from a central location;
Familiar with ISO 55000 principles;
Experienced in contracting and managing LTSA contracts
Core responsibilities of Director Asset Management:
BESS Strategy & Execution: Take ownership of the asset management and operational philosophy to lead process development organizational setup system implementation outsourcing and reporting.
Standardization & Collaboration: Continuously improve standards (technical contractual operational) and collaborate with internal stakeholders (Business Development Category/Commercial Management Vopak IT) to optimize project delivery and manage a future-proof IT/OT environment.
Pre-start-up & Commissioning: Manage site acceptance startup activities and risk mitigation to ensure projects meet operability maintainability and SHEQ business case objectives.
Technical Performance: Optimize critical metrics (RTE SoH DoD thermal management) and plan for asset repowering augmentation or expansion based on continuous technology and market assessments.
Operations Maintenance & Compliance: Manage the global 24/7 service desk third-party O&M ecosystem (via LTSAs) sustaining capex and spare parts while ensuring compliance with technical and local grid regulations.
Contract & Warranty Management: Collaborate with offtakers to deliver on commercial contracts optimizing cycle performance and ensuring operational compliance to manage potential warranty claims.
