Job Summary
Position Overview:
This position exists to execute manufacturing improvement related activities. A significant portion of the job involves the use of the SAP database (Routings and Bills of Material).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develops evaluates and improves manufacturing processes tooling and fixturing.
- Working together with Production Leaders may analyze and plan work force utilization space requirements and workflow and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
- Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design intent and manufacturability to ensure efficient production methods.
- Coordinating with purchasing and engineering confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment materials tooling or parts and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Confers with management engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
- Applies statistical methods to analyze evaluate and estimate current and future manufacturing potential.
- Works on multiple product lines such as Marland as well as Formsprag in order to help bring engineering documentation up to date.
- Works on defined projects to develop manufacturing capability in support of plant goals.
- Participates in Lean Manufacturing events as appropriate.
- Creates new manufacturing routings bills of material and operation documents for the efficient manufacture of clutch components.
- May work on miscellaneous other projects involving routings processing and on time delivery as directed.
- Works with production planners to determine whether to buy or make various clutch components based on capacity capability and sound cost accounting practices.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Engineering Degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or ten to fifteen years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge and competence in Microsoft Excel Word Project and PowerPoint are highly desirable. SAP experience is highly desirable.
- Strong skills in Lean Manufacturing
- Strong skills in the use of CAD Drawing software
- Strong CNC experience including knowledge of material removal during the machining process
- Strong organizational skills are necessary for this position
