This position is classified as Hourly/Full-time at $18.50 /hr.
SUMMARY:
The Shift Manager (MedTech) acts as a team leader direct supervisor of resident caregivers ensuring that the resident needs are met distributes medications and assists in the skill training of all new resident caregivers as well as developing requests for in service training. The Shift Manager reports directly to the Administrator and Resident Care Coordinator (RCC). In absence of Administrator and RCC the Shift Manager is responsible for overall flow in facility and has authority to make minor decisions regarding the care on the floor; and to summon emergency care if the resident is in distress. All other care decisions are made by the Administrator or RCC.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintain resident charts and keep other documentation current on facility forms licensing forms physician orders and incident reports
Ensure caregivers carry out their responsibility on the particular shift and resident needs are met to including bathing toileting dressing grooming oral care hygiene skin are perineum care and other activities of daily living (ADLs) and are delivered to the residents function at their highest level physically cognitively and socially
Assist residents with mobility and transfers according to approved assistance protocols
Assist residents at mealtime and daily recreational activities including crafts games music exercise and interaction
Communicate resident status changes with the Administrator and RCC
Ensure all medication documentation is current and correct including medication administration forms physician orders change of dosages and central medication storage
Coordinate physician and other appointments for the particular shift
Pass medications for the particular shift and read all Shift Communication Notes regarding the facility and residents so as to be informed of the condition of the residents and report such to the Administrator and RCC
Provide leadership to direct care staffs by identifying and communicating resident care priorities
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Completes and follows in house safety program and ensures all compliance with all safety laws (e.g. OSHA Title 22 Fire Authority etc.)
Understands and promotes the communitys fire and accident prevention sanitation procedures and use of fire safety equipment
Perform other duties assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Each employee must have a physical examination and tuberculin test performed by a physician. The tests are to be completed (with results) within seven (7) days after hire (unless regulations stipulate completion before employment). If the exams are not completed within the timeframe the employee will be placed on suspension until they are completed.
The Department of Social Services (DSS) licensing agency requires that fingerprint livescan and a background check be submitted for the purpose of conducting a criminal record review. The DSS will issue an approval or denial according to the criminal clearance reports. An approval must be obtained in order to retain employment.
Willing to submit to any drug screening as requested or required
All MedTechs must keep their FIRST-AID certification current
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: High School Diploma or eq
Required: Must be at least 18 years old and older
Required: Must have prior experience in caregiving and must understand medical pass protocol
SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Required skills include leadership oral/written communication interpersonal and public interactive skills.
Knowledge of Geriatric care and licensing regulations
Organization skills: must be able to maintain organizational order and efficiency; maintain resident files employee records and work area in a tidy and orderly appearance
Mental: must be able to handle stress well stay calm under pressure; ability to think and make decisions consistent with policies and procedures and licensing regulations
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is completed primarily indoors but some outdoor work is possible. The environment can be fast-paced and the noise level may vary from quiet to moderately loud depending on various factors. The role may involve working on weekends holidays overtime or during emergencies based on residents needs and shift schedules.
BODY POSITIONING: Spend time bending twisting or lifting up to 50 pounds making repetitive motions standing and using your hands to handle control or feel objects tools
