Position Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) Operating Room is responsible for delivering high-quality perioperative nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. This role involves applying the nursing process to ensure safe effective and patient-centered care throughout the surgical experience.
The RN collaborates with interdisciplinary teams maintains accurate clinical documentation and supports optimal patient outcomes in an ambulatory surgery setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Apply the nursing process in the care of surgical patients in the operating room
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of patient care interventions and outcomes
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses during and after surgical procedures
- Collaborate with surgeons anesthesiologists and healthcare team members
- Maintain a sterile and safe operating room environment
- Supervise and support non-nursing staff within the OR
- Adhere to all clinical regulatory and safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) nursing experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (State license or compact license)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification American Heart Association
Required Skills
- Strong clinical judgment and critical thinking
- Ability to develop and implement effective care plans
- Proficiency in perioperative nursing practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced surgical environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) AHA
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
