About the Role:
As a Travel and Tourism Sales - Business Development Associate youll join the existing Cairns (Gimuy) sales team with other sales team counterparts located in Brisbane and Bundaberg. Youll play a key role in driving revenue and patronage growth increasing awareness of Queensland Rails Travel and Tourism products and introducing contemporary ways to engage with a rapidly evolving tourism industry. This role suits someone who brings fresh perspective challenges traditional approaches when needed and sees opportunities around every curve.
As a regional ambassador for Queensland Rail Travel and its train product brands youll build influential productive relationships across the travel and tourism sector helping to shape how rail travel is positioned understood and sold while contributing to the successful delivery of strategic Travel and Tourism projects.
This is a permanent full-time position based in Cairns where you will be required to work outside of standard business hours (this may include evenings or weekends). Regular travel (including by train) within Queensland is required and interstate travel may be required at times.

Purpose that counts What youll be doing.
Manage and grow a portfolio of sales accounts to deliver revenue and patronage outcomes
Build strong and influential industry partnerships through collaboration regional insight training and product guidance
Contribute market insight and commercial thinking to the development and delivery of contemporary sales plans
Analyse market trends and customer behaviour to identify and develop new business opportunities
Design and deliver compelling sales and product presentations for trade industry and customer audiences
Maintain accurate reporting and insights including KPIs industry activity project outcomes and engagement performance

Were looking to connect with someone who brings both commercial capability and contemporary tourism thinking.
Youll have:
Proven sales or business development experience within the tourism industry or a closely related sector
Strong knowledge of the Australian travel market with existing industry relationships highly regarded
Excellent communication negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders
Experience delivering sales outcomes and representing brands positively at trade and consumer events
Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to turn insight into action
A current C class Driver Licence
And youll be someone who:
Is proactive commercially curious and motivated to keep pace with a changing tourism landscape
Enjoys working in environments where initiative collaboration and adaptability matter
