The Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training apprenticeships or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a SkillBridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service members suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description
The On Wing Support Test Technician Level 2 is responsible for shipping and receiving engine prep/de-prep inspection troubleshooting and test operations for GE/CFM commercial engines. You will execute work in accordance with Standard Work Repair Station Manuals and all applicable technical references supporting safe compliant and high-quality test outcomes. The role is accountable for planning performing and documenting inspection operations per approved technical references and Repair Station procedures.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Execute borescope inspections as assigned; validate criteria record measurements and coordinate corrective actions.
- Responsible for performing and documenting inspections per applicable technical references approved technical references Repair Station Manuals and GE policies.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including EHS quality engineering planning and materials to support operational initiatives identify root cause corrective action and support constant improvement site-wide.
- Understand and strictly adhere to appropriate technical references such as Aircraft Maintenance Manuals Engine Shop Manuals Engine Illustrated Parts Catalogs etc.
- Act in accordance with GEs FLIGHT DECK fundamentals & behaviors the sites Repair Station and Quality Control Manual Training Manual Test Cell Facility Operations Manual and other applicable regulatory agency requirements.
- Accurately document work performed discrepancies and corrective actions; book time and maintain traceability in ERP systems.
- Perform supplementary shop and housekeeping duties as a part of the sites 5S and Total Proactive Maintenance initiatives.
- Safely operate shop equipment (fork trucks overhead cranes tugs etc.) coach others on operations and GE Policies & Procedures.
- Ability to use mechanical ingenuity and make decisions in a fast-paced production environment in a safe effective and efficient manner.
- Availability to work flexible shift patterns as required including nights weekends and holidays.
- Ability to travel to remote international locations for initial training for an extended period.
Basic Requirements:
- Active Military personnel on their last 180 days of military service
- High School Diploma / GED
- Mechanical experience
- Inspection experience
- Borescope inspection
- Preliminary Review approved
- Designated Inspector status
- Federal Aviation Administration Powerplant certification
Desired Characteristics:
- Proven leadership experience driving process improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Background in or familiarity with SAP Oasis or a similar ERP software.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all levels.

- Possess a desire to learn constantly in every aspect of OWS test operations and expand their knowledge to different technologies and Engine Programs.
- Ability to work as part of a team or of their own initiative when required.
- Collaborate with EHS Quality Engineering Planning and Materials to drive safety quality delivery and cost improvements.
- Previous commercial high-bypass turbofan engine testing experience including prepping de-prepping engine test (test cell or on-wing) line maintenance engine changes LRU removal and installation and troubleshooting.
- Engine Test Site Operator experience.
