Description of Work
The North Carolina Zoo is expanding making this an exciting opportunity to join our team. We are seeking a professional welcoming and highly organized individual to serve as an Administrative Receptionist.In this role the Administrative Receptionist supports the Communications section by serving as the first point of contact for guests staff and external partners entering the Zoos Administrative Building. The Receptionist provides exceptional customer service manages a multiline phone system assists with administrative tasks and communicates essential information about Zoo operations policies and procedures. This position plays an important role in ensuring a positive and efficient experience for all who interact with the Zoos administrative offices.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
*Greet guests with a smile while maintaining a friendly and approachable attitude toward guests and staff.
*Answer and respond to incoming calls using a multiline phone system.
*Exercise strong listening skills and use available resources to assist guests with questions related to park information local information call transfers and wayfinding.
*Assist with administrative duties such as typing reviewing documents assembling materials and completing other assigned tasks.
*Exercise good judgment and patience when interacting with guests including handling repetitive questions.
*Display a sense of urgency and professionalism at all times.
*Maintain a working knowledge of Zoowide policies and procedures.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Recruitment Range: $16.00 per hour

Management Prefers
Experience in administrative or customerservice work including but not limited to greeting visitors managing multiline phone systems providing information to guests or clients and performing general office or clerical tasks.
Position & Physical Requirements
Must possess the physical ability to hear well speak clearly walk short distances and lift up to 25 lbs.
Strong communication decisionmaking and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively independently.
Ability to use a computer to navigate email online resources and general office equipment such as printers and scanners.
Must have a valid NC drivers license.
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday with a onehour lunch break.
Must comply with the NC Zoo Dress Code and Appearance Policy.

Veterans and National Guard Preference
Applicants seeking Veterans Preference must attach a DD Form 214 Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty along with the state application.
Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB 23A (RPAS) along with the state application if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.
Applicants who are former member of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service must attach a copy of the DD 256 or NGB 22 along with the state application.
