UW Recreation has an outstanding opportunity for a Manager of Waterfront Facility Rentals to join their team.

SUMMARY:

The Manager of Waterfront Facility Rentals is responsible for a portfolio of rental spaces including the ASUW Shell House Waterfront Activities Center (WAC) Great Room Docks Green Space and West Lot. Responsibilities include management of the daily operations and group rentals/events of waterfront rental facilities ensuring event coverage and high-quality customer service as well as policy compliance and sound financial management. The Manager of Waterfront Facility Rentals will be a contributing member of UW Recreation and participate in department-wide initiatives and committee work.

The working schedule for this position will flex by season. It is expected that this position will work weekends as needed to provide support and oversight of facility rentals at various times throughout the year.


This position reports to the Assistant Director of Outreach and serves on the Recreation Leadership Team and other campus committees. It serves as a department resource on program development equipment purchasing staff training and policy development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Personnel

  • Recruit hire train and supervise the Waterfront Facility Rental operations temporary employee staff of approximately 30.

  • Ensure employees have proper up-to-date university required training and first aid administration certification.

  • Process semi-monthly payroll in accordance with department and University policy and procedures.

  • Manage employees and schedules to meet University student and temporary employee requirements.

Programming & Operations

  • Maintain oversight of comprehensive Waterfront Facility Rental operation in accordance with the operations handbook industry standards and department policies to ensure compliance.

  • Develop and implement training and meetings with the temporary staff on major policy and procedure topics of concern including equipment needs risk management emergency response scheduling and event coordination.

  • Establish and implement operational and programmatic policies and procedures reviewing annually to update for program and process improvement.

  • Evaluate new operational requests to determine their viability and compatibility within the current suite of offerings.

  • Establish and implement facility rental specific risk management practices policies and procedures.

  • Compile quarterly and annual statistical program data for department reports.

  • Serve as the departments resource on Waterfront Facility Rental program-related questions.

  • Perform ongoing assessment of the Waterfront Facility Rental program to evaluate and analyze based on participation data the Departments mission and values as well as the current business needs.

Facility Management

  • Manage the Waterfront rental facilities to accommodate facility rentals open recreation scheduled classes and activities and special events. Enforce safety rules and ensure sanitary conditions in and around the rental facilities.

  • Manage maintain and inspect facility rental equipment throughout the year.

  • Align with the operations and activities at all the department facilities and fields as needed. Work cooperatively with other members of the department staff in the interest of providing a comprehensive program designed to meet the needs of the University community.

  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with other UW departments local rental facilities and industry associations.

  • Serve as the Building Coordinator for the ASUW Shell House.

Budgeting

  • Prepare an annual budget for the Waterfront Facility Rental operations. Project expenditures in staffing equipment and contract services and revenues for group/event rentals.

  • Manage the Waterfront Facility Rental budget and maintain internal control of all expenditures and ensure fiscal responsibility and compliance.

  • Evaluate facility rental equipment needs and make purchases.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • A minimum of 2 years work experience in recreation event management or sales

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements such as a license/certification/registration.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience supervising managing or mentoring students or staff.

  • Experience with managing a budget.

  • Working knowledge of scheduling and recreation management software.

  • Must maintain current First Aid/CPR/AED certification.

  • Possess interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse group of students faculty staff and colleagues.

  • Strong communication organizational and leadership/management skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to provide positive and effective customer service.

  • Current certification in First Aid/CPR/AED (may be obtained within six months of employment).

Preferred

  • 2 years full time work experience

  • Familiarity with Mazevo or a similar event scheduling platform

Compensation Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$68004.00 annual

Pay Range Maximum:

$72000.00 annual
