JOB TITLE:

LecturerAsst - LeaRN Programs

JOB PURPOSE:

Full-Time Assistant Lecturer position in the LeaRN Program working with first-year and underprepared student populations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position includes two primary roles: instructor of LeaRN courses (4 courses per year) and workshop coordinator for the Writing Center (equivalent to 3 courses per year). The teaching commitment may include First-Year Composition Human Culture academic success and First-Year Experience courses. The Writing Center component involves planning delivering and evaluating targeted workshops for students and instructors across campus. Additional responsibilities may include supporting Writing Center tutors as they prepare workshops and contributing to Communication Across the Curriculum (CxC) faculty programming. The position also includes a one-course equivalent professional development release per year. Activities may include but are not limited to program assessment faculty mentorship and curriculum development. Note: percentage of responsibilities devoted to teaching and Writing Center may shift based on department needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed a Masters degree
  • At least two years of experience teaching college students in first-year or lower-division courses
  • Experience teaching First-Year Composition (FYC)
  • Evidence of highly effective teaching among varied student populations

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Teaching experience in first-year learning communities
  • At least four years of university-level teaching experience
  • Experience with Writing Center consulting at the college level
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development in relevant fields (e.g. conference presentations workshops)
