This is a temporary position and there are no leave or retirement benefits offered with this position. Temporary employees who work an annual average of 30 or more hours per week may be eligible for health insurance coverage under the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). Note: Permanent and time-limited NC State Government employees must separate from their permanent or time-limited position in order to work in a temporary position. All temporary employees are limited to one NC State Government temporary assignment at a time.


Individuals hired into a temporary State job must be fully qualified for the job. This temporary position is located at 200 Leagan Drive Raleigh - Wake County with Department of Adult Correction (DAC).


Job Order Hourly Rate of Pay: $24.00 (Based on education and/or years of relevant work experience reflected on the application).

Effective July 1 2025 candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they have the minimum education and experience listed from the class specification. The Knowledge Skills and Abilities listed within this vacancy announcement will be used only as management preferences and will be used to screen for the most qualified pool of applicants.

Position is responsible for the following areas receiving storage inventorying and/or shipping. Position will focus in one or more of these areas and is available to rotate to another if the Warehouse workload necessitates a priority shift.

A high degree of accuracy is required for an individual serving in this position. Given the immense volume of materials handled by the Warehouse the value of these materials and the demand for these items it is imperative that the work produced by the employee in this position is as accurate as possible.

Management Preferences:

  • Knowledge of accepted practices principles methods and procedures of warehouse management and control and commercial transportation.
  • Knowledge of laws rules regulations and practices related to safety and housekeeping in a large warehouse facility.
  • Demonstrated experience with a wide variety of supplies materials and/or equipment and of the supply sources for such goods.
  • Ability to drive a forklift .
  • Ability to adjust and be flexible to changing work priorities.
  • Ability to bend lift and move items up to 50 pounds.

Minimum Education and Experience

High School or General Education Development (GED) diploma and three (3) years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
