Emergency Medicine CMO August 2026 Start Coastal NSW

We are working with a large well-established public hospital located in a highly desirable coastal region of New South Wales. This is a busy referral hospital with a high-volume Emergency Department servicing a diverse population across metropolitan and regional catchments. Youll be joining a collaborative and well-structured ED with strong senior clinician presence supportive FACEM leadership and a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality patient-centred care.

The Opportunity
This Career Medical Officer (CMO) role offers a dynamic and fast-paced ED environment with exposure to a broad case mix including acute medical surgical trauma and paediatric presentations. You will work under indirect supervision while also playing a key role in supervising junior doctors particularly during after-hours shifts.

The department operates 24/7 with a structured roster including evenings nights and weekends. There is also the opportunity to rotate across additional sites within the local health district offering further clinical exposure and variety.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality emergency care within a busy ED setting
  • Work collaboratively with senior clinicians and multidisciplinary teams
  • Supervise and support junior medical staff particularly during after-hours
  • Participate in a rotating roster including evenings nights and weekends
  • Contribute to a positive team culture and safe clinical environment

About You

  • MBBS (or equivalent) with current or eligible registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience including strong Emergency Medicine exposure
  • Comfortable working independently with appropriate clinical judgment
  • Experience supervising junior staff is highly regarded
  • Strong communication teamwork and organisational skills

Desirable

  • ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate or Diploma
  • Experience working at a senior ED level (e.g. registrar/CMO equivalent)
  • Background in General Practice (RACGP/ACRRM) or other relevant specialties with ED experience
