Role: Radiation Therapist (ARRT Certified)
Location: McMinnville OR
Position: Full Time Benefits
Must Have:
Associates degree in Radiation Therapy.
Radiation Therapy Certification required.
Basic Life Support.
Responsibilities:
1. Patient Preparation & Care
- Explain radiation therapy procedures to patients
- Position patients correctly on the treatment table
- Ensure patient comfort and reduce anxiety during sessions
- Monitor patients for side effects or reactions
2. Treatment Delivery
- Operate advanced radiation equipment such as linear accelerators
- Deliver prescribed doses of radiation as directed by a radiation oncologist
- Follow highly precise treatment plans to target tumors while protecting healthy tissue
3. Treatment Planning Assistance
- Work with radiation oncologists and medical physicists
- Assist in simulation procedures and imaging (CT MRI)
- Help map out exact treatment areas using specialized software
4. Accuracy & Safety Compliance
- Verify treatment parameters before each session
- Ensure correct dosage positioning and alignment
- Follow strict radiation safety protocols to protect patients and staff
5. Equipment Operation & Quality Checks
- Perform routine checks and calibration of radiation machines
- Identify and report any equipment issues
- Maintain a safe and sterile treatment environment
6. Patient Monitoring & Documentation
- Track patient progress and response to treatment
- Document doses delivered and any side effects observed
- Maintain accurate and timely medical records
7. Interdisciplinary Collaboration
- Work closely with:
- Radiation oncologists
- Medical physicists
- Oncology nurses
- Dosimetrists
- Participate in treatment planning and patient care discussions
8. Patient Education & Support
- Educate patients on treatment process and possible side effects
- Provide emotional support during cancer treatment
- Offer guidance on managing fatigue skin changes and other reactions
9. Radiation Protection & Safety
- Follow federal and institutional radiation safety guidelines
- Use protective equipment and shielding techniques
- Minimize radiation exposure to self and others
10. Use of Advanced Technology
- Utilize imaging systems and software for precise targeting
- Adapt to evolving radiation therapy technologies
