Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Operations Planning Leader to drive strategic network forecasting and inventory optimization in our Special Fulfillment team with a focus on Express Mart and Amazon Now services. This role will be based at Tokyo and will be instrumental in transforming our delivery logistics through innovative planning strategies and data-driven decision-making.
In this position you will lead the development of comprehensive inbound plans from Distribution Centers (DC) or Fulfillment Centers (FC) to Express Mart or Amazon Now sites optimizing resource allocation across our expanding delivery network. Youll work at the intersection of strategic planning and operational excellence creating forecasting models that balance fullness targets cost efficiency and other metrics.
As a key member of our Supply Chain Management team youll collaborate with cross-functional partners including Business Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) Transport Services and Finance to align operational strategies across Japan.
This role requires a strategic thinker who can independently lead complex planning operations translate data insights into actionable plans and maintain flexibility to adapt strategies based on evolving business needs. Youll be responsible for driving accuracy in inbound planning (Plan vs. Actual variance minimization) maintaining optimal inventory levels and ensuring cost adherence to operational plansall while supporting the next generation of customer delivery experiences.

Key job responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Forecasting
- Develop 13-week rolling inbound plans from DC/FC for Express Mart and Amazon Now operations across Japan
- Create network forecasts optimizing inventory placement Fullness target cost efficiency and other metrics
- Lead S&OP processes for Express Mart and Amazon Now operations aligning demand forecasts with supply capabilities
Operational Excellence
- Drive Plan vs. Actual variance minimization through continuous monitoring and adjustment
- Analyze operational metrics including site fullness inventory health (DoC WoC) transfer efficiency and cost adherence
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to identify root causes and develop data-driven solutions
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Business SCOT AMZL and Finance teams to align planning strategies
Network Expansion & Innovation
- Support regional network expansion and new site launches
- Lead planning initiatives for emerging services
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements enhancing planning accuracy and operational efficiency
- Lead complex cross-functional projects with accountability for deliverables and timelines

- 5 years of team management experience
