Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist Environmental Focus
Schedule: Monday - Thursday 9PM to 7AM
Wage: $34.00/hr
Position Summary
The EHS Specialist (Environmental Focus) supports the organizations environmental compliance and sustainability efforts while also contributing to workplace safety and occupational health programs. This role partners with operations facilities and leadership to ensure compliance with applicable environmental regulations and internal EHS standards reduce risk and drive continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Environmental (Primary Focus)
Maintain compliance with applicable environmental regulations (e.g. air emissions wastewater/stormwater hazardous waste spill prevention) and company requirements.
Manage environmental permits and reporting (e.g. waste manifests discharge monitoring emissions inventories) and coordinate submissions with regulatory agencies as required.
Oversee hazardous/non-hazardous waste management including proper labeling storage accumulation area inspections vendor coordination and documentation.
Lead spill prevention and response readiness (e.g. SPCC support where applicable) including drills corrective actions and root-cause investigations.
Conduct environmental audits/inspections; track findings assign corrective actions and verify closure.
Develop and deliver environmental training (waste handling spill response stormwater best practices etc.).
Support sustainability initiatives (waste reduction recycling programs resource efficiency projects) and track environmental metrics/KPIs.
Safety & Occupational Health (Secondary Focus)
Support facility safety programs (hazard identification job hazard analyses PPE selection LOTO support machine guarding contractor safety and ergonomics as applicable).
Participate in incident reporting and investigations; identify corrective and preventive actions and verify completion.
Assist with safety training and communications (new hire orientation toolbox talks safe work practices).
Support industrial hygiene/occupational health activities as needed (exposure assessments hearing conservation respiratory protection coordination fit testing administration via qualified partners).
Help maintain EHS documentation and readiness for internal/external audits (OSHA logs if applicable training records inspection checklists).
Qualifications
25 yearsof EHS experience with strong emphasis on environmental compliance (manufacturing warehousing lab utilities or similar environments preferred).
Working knowledge of environmental regulatory programs relevant to the site (e.g. hazardous waste stormwater wastewater SPCC air permitting).
Familiarity with core safety programs (incident investigation inspections training PPE).
Strong documentation organizational and communication skills; ability to influence and partner cross-functionally.
Preferred Qualifications / Certifications
Bachelors degree in Environmental Science Environmental Engineering Occupational Safety Industrial Hygiene or related field (or equivalent experience).
CHMM REM or similar environmental credential; or ASP/CSP (safety).
Experience with ISO 14001/45001 systems audits and corrective action management.
Experience managing environmental vendors and waste disposal contractors.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Work performed in office and operational areas; may require walking climbing stairs and occasional lifting to50 lbs.
Must be able to wear required PPE (safety glasses hearing protection respiratory protection as applicable).
