SUMMARY:The Marine Instructor (MI) services as a critical member of the Marine Corpos JROTC (MCJROTC) program supporting the Senor Marine Instruct (SMI) in management instruction and administration of the unit. As a member of the schools faculty the MI fulfills teaching responsibilities while providing oversight and support for the units day-to-day operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the SMI in planning organizing and executing MCJROTC curriculum and training activities.
- Manage administrative functions including cadet records attendance grading and reporting requirements.
- Maintain and oversee unit supplies uniforms equipment and inventory to ensure readiness for training and events.
- Supervise cadets during classroom instruction physical training drill practice and extracurricular activities.
- Provide instruction in leadership citizenship physical fitness drill and Marine Corps values.
- Work with the SMI to plan and execute unit events competitions community service projects and other program activities.
- Collaborate with school administrators faculty parents and community stakeholders to promote and strengthen the MCJROTC program.
- Serve as a role model for cadets fostering discipline responsibility teamwork and character development.
- Participate in professional development and training as required by MCJROTC and the school district.
- Ensure safety compliance and accountability in all cadet activities including field trips competitions and special events.
- Demonstrate physical training techniques and actively supervise cadet activities to ensure the safety and effectiveness of the program.
- Assist in recruiting and retention efforts for cadets and support program visibility within the school and local community.
- Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
- Other job related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Must hold a current Marine Corps JROTC Instructor Certification at the time of application.
- Must meet all eligibility requirements established by Marine Corps JROtC and the employing school district.
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
Valid Arizona teaching certificate and meets highly qualified requirements
Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)
EXPERIENCE:
- Be a retired U.S. Marine Non-Commissioned Officer.
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Reading and interpreting general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.
- Writing general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
- Adding subtracting multiplying and dividing in all units of measure using whole numbers common fractions and decimals.
- Principles and practices of program administration.
- Basic principles and applications of critical thinking and analysis.
- Best practices trends and emerging technologies.
- Principles and techniques of effective oral presentations.
- Uses and properties of supplies and equipment.
- Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment.
SKILL IN:
- Applying reason to research and solving moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
- Interpreting an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.
- Performing basic original research to assist with developing teaching plans and instructional materials.
- Maintaining and updating documentation.
- Organizing and maintaining records files and program information.
- Gathering data analyzing findings and applying logic and reason.
- Authoring and preparing original reports documents and presentations.
- Researching industry trends solutions and best practices.
- Maintaining confidentiality.
- Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications.
- Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers supervisors the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.
ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping crouching reaching standing walking fingering grasping feeling talking hearing seeing and repetitive motions.
Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
Working Conditions: Work is routinely performed in an indoor classroom environment.
