Purpose of Position
Assembles electronic components wire wrap cards assemble modules hydraulic pumps subassemblies equipment boards harnesses panels power supplies and cables.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Applies fundamental principles and concepts.
- Performs the more routine aspects and progresses to more varied and complex activities with development of additional knowledge and experience in the subject matter.
- Participates in subject matter training as required to gain complex skills.
- Reads work orders follows production drawings and sample assemblies or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig fixture or other holding device.
- Knowledge of military and commercial quality specification.
- Reads work orders follows production drawings and sample assemblies or receives verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.
- Work and rework of prototype items and regular production items.
- Works with engineering to develop new techniques or to resolve difficult and unusual problems makes recommendation for fixtures and production aids.
- Contributes suggestions for changes in design or procedures as related to production improvements.
- Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig fixture or other holding device.
- Ability to plan and organize department work as needed may be required to work in the capacity of department lead as needed.
- Crimps stakes screws solders cements press fits or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.
- Mounts assembled components such as transformers resistors transistors capacitors integrated circuits and sockets on chassis panel.
- Connects component lead wires to printed circuit or routes and connects wires between individual component leads and other components connectors terminals and contact points.
- Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.
- Assembles and attaches hardware such as caps clamps knobs and switches to assemblies.
- Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as potting encapsulating sanding cleaning epoxy bonding curing stamping etching impregnating and color coding parts and assemblies.
- Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.
- Performs on-line- go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
Minimum Education
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Minimum Experience
Three years related experience and/or training
Knowledge Skills Abilities
Thorough knowledge and use of all applicable electronic assembly hand tools. Automatic and manual Crimpers Luggers Wire strippers
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently left and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
