Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

Improve the campus instructional program to help disadvantaged students reach high academic standards through supplemental support of the campus intervention program. Delivers small group intervention services at the campus using evidence-based instruction. Serves as an instructional resource person in the development and improvement of campus intervention programs. Additionally provide a safe and positive learning environment for students and feedback to classroom teachers students parents and administration regarding student progress expectations and goals.

Education / Certification:

  1. Valid Texas teaching certificate.
  2. Masters degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
  3. Bilingual Certification or ESL Supplemental preferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  1. Expertise in curriculum assessment instructional delivery intervention strategies and staff development.
  2. Deep understanding of the scientific research base for instruction and extensive knowledge of math and reading program components and teaching experience within the field of intervention is preferred.
  3. Knowledgeable about proven scientific based research strategies appropriate use of assessment and intervention strategies for struggling students.
  4. Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills

Experience / Other Requirements:

  1. At least five years of teaching experience.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Provides high quality supplemental instruction in accordance with the district curriculum and/or instructional expectations for the intervention program.
  2. Consults frequently with classroom teachers on matters relating to instructional methods and materials.
  3. Collects analyzes and prepares data for the purpose of interpretation identification progress monitoring and reporting to the district and parents.
  4. Prepares teaching materials and related reports for the purpose of implementing intervention lesson plans and documenting student progress.
  5. Maintains confidentiality of all information for the purpose of protection of students staff parents and the district.
  6. Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.
  7. Demonstrates methods to teachers and paraprofessionals required to perform effective reading intervention to address the needs of each student.
  8. Helps teachers to diagnose student strengths and weaknesses and to match these skills with appropriate techniques materials and/or technology.
  9. Participates in meetings as necessary (e.g. MTSS Meetings ARD Meetings and LPAC Meetings) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information.
  10. Maintains regular communication with parents and teachers via phone call emails notes letters and meetings.
  11. Responsible for properly maintaining district records adhering to all policies set forth by the district for records maintenance and learning the records retention schedule for department records.
  12. Maintains daily attendance records for students receiving intervention programming.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.
