Role Overview

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for implementing innovative technology and process solutions that enhance Generacs fabrication and welding capabilities. The role involves:

  • Partnering with design engineering to improve Design for Manufacturability (DFM) in sheet metal fabrication and welding
  • Implementing OEE improvement activities
  • Determining equipment capacities and optimizing production
  • Collaborating with manufacturing personnel to ensure implementation of process plans
  • Supporting both production operations and capital/project management initiatives
Primary Responsibilities
  • Design and implement area layouts equipment programs and tooling for continuous improvement and capacity projects
  • Support DFM in New Product Introductions (NPI) for sheet metal components
  • Contribute to facility transformation technology transfer and maintenance of sheet metal fabrication value streams
  • Ensure successful execution of process improvement initiatives through documentation and procedures
  • Apply demand-driven principles for operational excellence: flexibility speed responsiveness
  • Ensure synchronization of product material and information streams for maximum efficiency and lowest cost
  • Generate innovative solutions to improve sheet metal fabrication results
  • Deploy standard Generac tools methodologies standards and processes
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer satisfaction and fulfillment needs
  • Collaborate closely with shop floor personnel to optimize manufacturing methods systems and controls
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 5 years of relevant engineering experience in a similar manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering specifically supporting soft-tooled sheet metal fabrication
  • Experience with turret punching laser cutting press brakes MIG welding
  • Knowledge of Amada and Salvagnini fabrication equipment
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for sheet metal fabrication (SolidWorks ProE AutoCAD)
  • Project management experience for machine tool acquisition and implementation
  • Lean manufacturing experience (5S Kaizen Value Stream Mapping)
  • Experience in high-mix low-volume and high-volume low-mix production environments
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent organizational written and oral communication skills
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to talk hear stand walk and use hands to manipulate objects or controls
  • Occasionally required to stoop bend or reach above the shoulders
  • Occasional lifting of 25 50 lbs
  • Frequent computer-based work requiring sitting and visual focus
  • Occasional travel
