The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for implementing innovative technology and process solutions that enhance Generacs fabrication and welding capabilities. The role involves:
- Partnering with design engineering to improve Design for Manufacturability (DFM) in sheet metal fabrication and welding
- Implementing OEE improvement activities
- Determining equipment capacities and optimizing production
- Collaborating with manufacturing personnel to ensure implementation of process plans
- Supporting both production operations and capital/project management initiatives
- Design and implement area layouts equipment programs and tooling for continuous improvement and capacity projects
- Support DFM in New Product Introductions (NPI) for sheet metal components
- Contribute to facility transformation technology transfer and maintenance of sheet metal fabrication value streams
- Ensure successful execution of process improvement initiatives through documentation and procedures
- Apply demand-driven principles for operational excellence: flexibility speed responsiveness
- Ensure synchronization of product material and information streams for maximum efficiency and lowest cost
- Generate innovative solutions to improve sheet metal fabrication results
- Deploy standard Generac tools methodologies standards and processes
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to meet customer satisfaction and fulfillment needs
- Collaborate closely with shop floor personnel to optimize manufacturing methods systems and controls
- Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical degree
- 5 years of relevant engineering experience in a similar manufacturing environment
- 10 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering specifically supporting soft-tooled sheet metal fabrication
- Experience with turret punching laser cutting press brakes MIG welding
- Knowledge of Amada and Salvagnini fabrication equipment
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for sheet metal fabrication (SolidWorks ProE AutoCAD)
- Project management experience for machine tool acquisition and implementation
- Lean manufacturing experience (5S Kaizen Value Stream Mapping)
- Experience in high-mix low-volume and high-volume low-mix production environments
- Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational written and oral communication skills
- Regularly required to talk hear stand walk and use hands to manipulate objects or controls
- Occasionally required to stoop bend or reach above the shoulders
- Occasional lifting of 25 50 lbs
- Frequent computer-based work requiring sitting and visual focus
- Occasional travel
- Salary: $91300 $136900 USD
