We are offering an exciting opportunity to join the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorates Digital Forensics CCTV Unit as a CCTV Evidence Officer. Digital CCTV analysis plays a crucial role in modern criminal investigations and has helped secure outcomes in several highprofile cases.

In this specialist technical role you will support investigators by recovering viewing analysing processing and preparing video evidence from sources such as CCTV systems Body Worn Video and mobile devices. You will also ensure that all evidential material is handled in accordance with legislation and is suitable for review by the CPS defence teams and the courts. On occasion you may be required to present evidence in court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Recover review and process recorded digital video evidence.
  • Conduct basic editing decoding and file preparation for evidential purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with evidential rules legislation and force policy.
  • Produce highquality evidential packages suitable for court presentation.
  • Work closely with investigators and external agencies sometimes attending thirdparty premises.
  • Maintain accurate records and organise workloads with minimal supervision.
  • Learn develop and apply new digital forensic tools and techniques.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience working within the field of CCTV.
  • Practical understanding of CCTV systems video formats editing and decoding.
  • Strong IT capability including use of video editing and transcoding software.
  • Experience using computer applications for video processing.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
  • Knowledge of legislation relating to evidence handling (e.g. Human Rights Act Data Protection PACE).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of accuracy organisation and attention to detail.

Desirable Criteria

  • Education to ALevel standard.
  • Understanding of ISO 17025 principles.
  • Experience within a digital forensics environment.
  • Familiarity with video enhancement and advanced digital retrieval techniques.
