About the role

  • The Spend Control Specialist supports the commercial and sales teams by providing financial analysis insights and decision support to drive profitable growth.
  • The role focuses on sales performance pricing promotions trade spend customer profitability and customer account health in a fast-paced FMCH environment.

Key responsibilities

1. Claims

  • Gather Proof of performance for promotional activity.
  • Investigate follow-up and close variance by claim with the customer.
  • Support Account managers in claims management and processing.
  • Attach and submit POP to NAM/KAM for the approval of promotion activity.
  • Support preparation of Governance review meetings.

2. Accruals Creation

  • Support with the creation of accruals.
  • Ensure all the accruals are approved on time.
  • Support in closing off accrual activity post promotion and claims processing.
  • Assist in monitoring trade spend and ensuring spend is within approved limits and budget.

3. Claims tracker

  • Monthly updating of Claims tracker.
  • Ensure Claims submitted and open <10 WD are actioned.

4. Post ROI Analysis

  • Support sales team with the analysis of promotional activity.
  • Promotional forecast accuracy tracking.
  • Identify promotional activities with highest return and propose reallocation of funds from the underperforming promotions.
  • Track promotional performance versus forecasts and budgets.
  • Highlight risks and margin leakage in proposed commercial deals.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and periodic re-forecasts.
  • Perform scenario and sensitivity analysis where required.

5. Loading of Customer Cycle deals

  • Assist KAMs / NAMs with ensuring cycle deals are loaded and approved ahead of time.
  • Reconcile sales rebates discounts and trade spend.
  • Assist with annual budgeting and periodic re-forecasts.
  • Support variance analysis and reporting to relevant stakeholders.

6. Business partnering & stakeholder engagement

  • Work closely with Sales Comex and Finance teams.
  • Translate financial information into clear commercial insights.
  • Support ad-hoc commercial analysis and decision support requests.
  • Develop strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders.

7. Overall customer account health

  • Support account managers in consolidating supporting documentation to support in the validation of claims.
  • Highlight any risks on customer accounts.

8. Learning and Development

  • Stay updated on industry trends financial regulations and best practices.
  • Actively participate in training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
  • Seek mentorship and develop technical and soft skills required for business partnering.

Qualifications and skills

Required

  • A bachelors degree in finance Accounting Economics or similar.
  • 1 2 years experience.
  • Vacation work / internships in: Finance Accounting Commercial roles Case studies or simulations Tutoring or analytical project work.

Other Skills/Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to influence non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Excellent communication collaboration and analytical skills.
