General Purpose of Position
The Assistant Manager Training and Retail Events for Buick & GMC reports to the Retail Events and Training Manager for Buick & GMC and is a key member of the Buick & GMC Sales Operations team.
In this role you will lead training for the Buick & GMC Field Team and Dealer Network and support critical dealer event-related operations.
You will serve as a liaison among Brand Marketing the Center of Learning Sales Operations Buick & GMC Customer Experience and Product Trainers to ensure consistent high-quality training across all audiences.
This position plays a central role in successfully launching new Buick & GMC products to market by ensuring field and dealer personnel are confident in vehicle knowledge and selling skills.
Major Responsibilities
Training strategy and content
Collaborate with Brand and Product Marketing to understand product positioning key messages and feature/benefit stories for new launches and refreshes.
Lead the design and development of training programs and materials (e.g. course content videos facilitator guides) that build vehicle knowledge and soft selling skills for the Field Team and Dealer Network.
Partner with the Center of Learning to define and deliver launch training curriculum that aligns with brand strategy and field needs.
Integrate appropriate crossline and adjacency (i.e. OnStar Super Cruise Accessories GM Energy and more) training to enable field and dealership personnel to represent the full Buick & GMC portfolio effectively.
Event and in-dealership training
Manage relationships with Buick & GMC Product Trainers including coordinating training vehicles and supportive virtual & in-person trainer immersions.
Own in-dealership training program content and coordinate facilitators to ensure consistent high-quality delivery.
Plan and execute training components of key events (e.g. multi-city training tours) including content logistics and measurement of outcomes.
Stakeholder management and communication
Collaborate with Central Office Leadership Sales Effective teams and Regional Leadership to identify training and knowledge gaps for dealership personnel and the Buick & GMC Field Team and close those gaps with targeted solutions.
Partner with the Center of Learning and Sales Effectiveness teams to design specialized wholesale training where needed.
Support Brand Communications and help manage the Buick & GMC Brand HQ pages on Global Connect ensuring content is accurate current and easy to use for the field and dealers.
Operations systems and budget
Create and refine presentation materials for training courses and leadership updates.
Lead agencies and suppliers & allocate and manage resources/budgets for divisionally funded training initiatives ensuring resources are used effectively.
Serve as the subject matter expert for training-related systems used by the field (e.g. Learning Management System DSA application) providing guidance and troubleshooting as needed.
Facilitate key meetings by managing the agenda and flow listening for issues or opportunities and connecting teams to collaborate.
Support contests and other event-related operations including enrollment reporting and other critical logistics.
Required Skills / Experience
Field experience (e.g. District Sales Manager or similar) preferred to understand how training supports the Buick & GMC dealer network and field sales organization.
Ability to interpret data and translate insights into sales strategy recommendations.
Genuine interest in understanding vehicle features and benefits and in supporting new product launches.
Ability to work in a high-exposure complex team environment and manage resources (people funding materials support) to deliver results efficiently.
Strong Microsoft Office skills especially Outlook Excel and PowerPoint.
Strong project and time management skills; able to manage multiple initiatives and deadlines.
Highly effective presenter in a variety of settings (one-on-one small/large groups peers and senior leadership).
Avid learner with an interest in using GM-approved AI tools (e.g. Glean).
