About the role:
The Head of Revenue Protection is responsible for safeguarding Momentums cash flow and financial integrity while supporting sustainable customer growth and ensuring an empathetic and values led approach to recovering customer debt. The role leads credit assessment debt management and collections strategies across all major revenue drivers including customer payments network and metering invoices balancing commercial outcomes customer experience and regulatory obligations.
It oversees network and metering invoice approvals and disputes revenue assurance activities and debt provisioning to ensure accurate reporting and to minimise revenue leakage. As a senior leader the incumbent will understand market trends and forecasts and be able to implement new initiatives and activities to minimise risk and optimise collections activities. They will drive continuous improvement across people processes and systems and strong collaboration across the business.
- Oversight of cashflow: The role owns end to end accountability for Momentums cashflow ensuring timely collection disciplined credit management and strong financial controls to support liquidity and profitability.
- Revenue Assurance and Leakage Prevention: Own the Revenue Assurance framework across retail and wholesale revenue streams.
- Network Metering and Settlement Management: Oversee reconciliation and validation of network metering and wholesale invoices.
- Credit Risk Strategy and Policy: Define and maintain credit risk strategy aligned to customer segments market conditions and regulatory settings in collaboration with the Hydro Tasmania Credit Risk team.
- Customer Collections Strategy and Execution: Set and evolve collections strategies that maximise recovery while meeting regulatory and customer obligations.
- Data Reporting and Insight: Own the debt provision reporting on revenue integrity settlements accuracy credit exposure collections performance and bad debt.
- Regulatory Compliance and Risk Stewardship: Act as senior risk owner for revenue credit and collectionsrelated regulatory and conduct risk.
- Stakeholder and Vendor Management Partner closely with Finance Wholesale Retail Operations Customer teams Legal Risk and Regulatory functions.
- Leading People and the organisation: Create and develop a high performance team aligned with our strategic direction and goals
About you and your experience:
- 7 years Experience in a similar position with an Energy/Utilities industry
- Demonstrated ability to balance cashflow credit risk and customer outcomes drawing on risk based decision making practices used by senior credit leaders in utilities and regulated industries.
- Strong financial and commercial acumen with the confidence to make material risk decisions under uncertainty and clearly articulate trade offs
- Proven capability to design and evolve credit collections and revenue assurance strategies that align with regulatory obligations market conditions and long term enterprise resilience.
- Forward looking mindset anticipating emerging credit and conduct risks and embedding them into policy controls and reporting before issues crystallise.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant Energy industry legislation policies and systems and the ability to apply them to the Hydro Tasmania working environment Knowledge skills and abilities
- Understanding of credit management credit risk and/or revenue assurance methodologies and experience in implementation of risk management practices
- Strong ability to translate complex financial credit and operational data into clear insights that inform executive decisions Board reporting and regulatory scrutiny
- Awareness of trends and forecasts in customer debt management
- Commercial acumen and business/systems process improvement capabilities
- Written and verbal communication skills including the ability to collate and clearly convey information to others
- Ability to manage customer expectations and competing demands to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
- Influencing and collaboration skills with demonstrated capacity to manage stakeholders at all levels
- Communication and conflict resolution skills and the ability negotiate mutually acceptable outcomes
- Problem solving and analytical skills covering complex operational problems in the context of ambiguity and change
