About the opportunity
The Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health (UDRH) is funded under the Commonwealth Department of Healths Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
Our focus at the BHUDRH is to lead the design and delivery of innovative teaching and learning environments for medical nursing and allied health students undertaking their placement in our also actively work to improve the quality of health care for rural remote and First Nations Peoples by fostering local and regional collaborations and enhancingnational expertise in rural and remote health research and the translation of research into policy and practice.
We are seeking a Medical Educator to be based at our Broken Hill campus. You will undertake independent teaching/coaching of students applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best practice teaching. This role will support placements for our Extended Clinical Placement Program.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
undertake teaching and coaching of students in simulated or real clinical settings applying clinical experience and expertise to inform best-practice teaching
engage in highquality teaching and learning experiences that meet the universitys expectations and educational standards
develop teaching subject and assessment materials under the supervision of senior clinicians or academic staff
apply clinical knowledge and expertise to innovate teaching and learning including the development of new resources and practices
provide mentoring and guidance to students rolemodelling effective patient interaction and highquality care
deliver training and support to other academic staff on effective innovative and contemporary clinical practice
carry out administrative tasks and contribute to faculty or school meetings
contribute to a positive workplace culture that values diversity of thought collaboration excellence and achievement of outcomes
understand and contribute to advancing the university and faculty or schools strategic agenda
actively represent the university in partner organisations clinical settings and the broader community maintaining strong links with clinical and industry partners
undertake other duties and contribute to projects appropriate to the classification level as required
About you
MBBS or MD qualifications
Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP)or aFellow of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (FACRRM)
demonstrated understanding of contemporary clinical teaching practices and effective curriculum design
proven experience working within the relevant industry or clinical setting
demonstrated capacity to stimulate actively engage and educate an audience using a range of media
current drivers licence
