Job Summary
Project Coordinator RESILIENCE: Youth-led Household Economic Empowerment
and Sustainable Sanitation
ROLE PURPOSE:
Cargill and Save the Children (SC) share a vision to enhance the lives of palm oil farmers and their communities particularly youth in West Kalimantan Indonesia. Since 2021 we have collaborated to equip youth with employability and entrepreneurship skills improve access to finance for women and youth and enhance water sanitation and hygiene practices in the Ketapang District.
As we conclude Phase 1 we are excited to launch the next phase of our partnershipa three-year program designed to reach more palm oil farming households. This new phase will focus on fostering sustainable economic growth and improving community well-being while empowering vulnerable youth and promoting the adoption of clean and healthy behaviours.
Building on the foundation we established in Phase 1 which reached over 8113 individuals across 13 villages in the Ketapang District we are strengthening our program with a clear focus and new Phase 1 we improved financial literacy formed Village Saving and Loan Associations (VSLAs) and provided training for alternative livelihoods through Income Generating Activities (IGAs).
We also offered soft and hard skills training for vocational students and out-of-school youth connected schools with local factories through job fairs and internships and implemented Community-Led Total Sanitation by engaging various stakeholders including village communities and schools.
Implementation of phase 2 project will implement to achieve three goals such as:
- Increasing household incomes and viable business options within palm oil supply chain and income generating alternative.
- Improving employment opportunities for vulnerable youth including local ethnic and out-of-school youth through apprenticeships formal employment and support for business startups.
- Improving access to and utilization of suitable WASH services infrastructure and practices for children adolescents youth farming families and the broader community.
This role responsible for ensuring the project implementation to achieve the all the desired goals from the planning to monitoring and evaluation process. S/He will collaborate with Agriculture Impact Specialist Ecosystem Convener Specialist and other project team at national level to ensure the high quality of program delivery. S/He will also contribute to ensure the all donor requirements.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Project Coordinator will be based in Air Upas Ketapang District and lead the field team to implement the project in the Cargil Palm Oil area under direction of Program Manager and close coordination with the related technical adviser MEAL team Supply Chain and finance team.
The post holder will contribute on achievement of the global KPIs on Operations Delivery and contribute to achievement of global KPI as follows:
- Financial performance against forecast (BVA) (KPI01)
- Underspend on FS Commitment (KPI02)
- NCE Proportion (KPI03)
- Supply Chain Efficiency (KPI04)
- Purchasing Efficiency (KPI05)
- Contribute to Awards Management
- Awards close out actions completed on time (KPI09)
- On-time reporting (Member) and quality of reporting (MI06)
- On-time reporting (Donor) and outstanding reports (MI07)
- Contribute to compliance to security standard (KPI12)
- Road safety indicator (MI15)
Role in the Program Operation and Implementation will cover;
- Lead the implementation of the project activities in line with project design of CTP Ketapang Phase 2 and the quality framework project KPIs & Commitment with the Donor.
- Ensure adherence to good programming guidelines including Program Quality Indext. (PQI) in implementation of the program.
- Responsible for overall coordination of the project in Ketapang District and working closely with staff under his/her direct reporting for delivery of high-quality programming in line with the agreed program design and SOW.
- Identify and communicate to Program Manager any problems and issues in program implementation
- Support the Program Manager to provide the timely report and related project documentations as required by National Office and the Donor
- Conduct a regular field visit to the project area as needed to monitor program implementation and provide input/feedback for program delivery improvement and ensure the accurate project related data collection trough coordination with MEAL team
- Provide the technical capacity of the Implementing staff and Cadres on related project thematic such as Livelihood Youth empowerment and Wash.
Financial Management
- Support Program Manager in developing the annual budget and monthly projection.
- Regularly monitor budget versus actual expenditures and proactively propose any modifications to expenditure plans and projections.
- Manage financial resources assigned for the target district to support program operations.
- Ensure the application of appropriate controls for project resources including accurate tracking of all expenditures.
- Coordinate with the Program Manager to produce accurate and timely financial reports.
Partnership Management:
- Work closely with the implementing partners at the district level to ensure high quality programming and on time program delivery.
- In a close coordination with Program Manager to maintain the relation with Cargils local CSR staff.
Child Safeguarding
- Contribute to the overall implementation of Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP) within CO including ensure CSP integration in all project activities including for target beneficiaries in project Area
Emergency Response
- Under the guidance of Program Manager to support the humanitarian team in strengthening the Indonesia National Office on readiness to respond to emergencies in Ketapang in line with global SCI emergency policies. This includes ensuring optimal Programs staff participation the Indonesia Emergency Response Team and that these staff members receive proper training.
- Coordinate the response to any prioritized emergency in Indonesia.
WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:
- Bachelors degree in agriculture economic social development or other relevant studies.
- Recommended a minimum of 3 years of management experience in a contractor corporate or NGO environment including significant field implementation experience.
- Experience in direct working with farmer woman youth are preferred.
- Working Experience with rural community especially with palm oil farmer community in West Kalimantan context is a plus.
- Has good understanding of Livelihood including enabling of SME LED and MSD approach Youth empowerment related activity and Wash are preferred.
- Experience working with an international NGO or similar organization.
- Solid project management skills with a proven history of delivering results.
- Ability to analyse information evaluate options and to think and plan strategically.
- Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills Fluency in written and spoken Indonesian strong English written and spoken skills.
- Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children aims values and principles including rights-based approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to write high quality reports and other project documents in Indonesian and English
