About the Role:
The Interim Director of Human Resources is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing all HR functions across the College. Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the Presidents Cabinet this role plays a key part in aligning HR strategies with institutional goals.
The position focuses on driving organizational effectiveness supporting workforce planning ensuring compliance with employment regulations and fostering an inclusive high-performing workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and implement HR strategies aligned with institutional goals
- Oversee talent acquisition workforce planning and retention initiatives
- Manage employee and labor relations including union engagement and conflict resolution
- Direct compensation benefits and HR compliance with applicable regulations
- Drive organizational development training and performance management programs
- Oversee HR operations systems reporting and process improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field
- Proven experience in HR management with strong functional expertise
- Experience in labor relations and contract negotiations
- Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to interpret employment laws and HR policies
Nice to Have:
- Masters degree in HR Organizational Leadership or related field
- Professional HR certification (e.g. SHRM-SCP SPHR)
- Experience in higher education ideally in a community college setting
- Familiarity with public sector HR regulations
