About the Role:

The Interim Director of Human Resources is a strategic leadership position responsible for overseeing all HR functions across the College. Reporting directly to the President and serving as a member of the Presidents Cabinet this role plays a key part in aligning HR strategies with institutional goals.
The position focuses on driving organizational effectiveness supporting workforce planning ensuring compliance with employment regulations and fostering an inclusive high-performing workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and implement HR strategies aligned with institutional goals
  • Oversee talent acquisition workforce planning and retention initiatives
  • Manage employee and labor relations including union engagement and conflict resolution
  • Direct compensation benefits and HR compliance with applicable regulations
  • Drive organizational development training and performance management programs
  • Oversee HR operations systems reporting and process improvements

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources or a related field
  • Proven experience in HR management with strong functional expertise
  • Experience in labor relations and contract negotiations
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to interpret employment laws and HR policies

Nice to Have:

  • Masters degree in HR Organizational Leadership or related field
  • Professional HR certification (e.g. SHRM-SCP SPHR)
  • Experience in higher education ideally in a community college setting
  • Familiarity with public sector HR regulations
