Position Title: Classroom Teacher-Healthcare and Clinical Services (CTE)
Position Type: Exempt
Reports To: Building Principal Supervises: Students and others as assigned by the School Principal.
Primary Function: To provide all students with an enriched environment containing required instruction. To prepare classroom for class instruction. Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities. Observe and evaluate students performance and development. Assign and grade classwork homework tests and assignments.
Minimum Qualifications:
Applicant must be a Licensed Practical Nurse or higher who is a graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a two-year (associate) degree or higher.
Must obtain or be eligible to obtain a Mississippi Educator License with appropriate teacher endorsement (district support will be provided throughout this process).
Ability to effectively communicate both written and orally.
Occupational Experience and Related Assessment of that Experience
Applicants with an associate degree must have at least two years of verifiable occupational experience in the past ten years. Experience must be appropriate to the subject to be taught.
Applicants with a bachelor or higher degree must have at least one year of verifiable occupational experience in the past ten years. Experience must be appropriate to the subject to be taught.
An educator with a standard five - year license may use experience outside of the ten - year timeframe.
Applicant must possess and maintain an unrestricted Mississippi Nurse License.
Applicant must possess and maintain CPR Certification for Health Care Provider Basic Life Support through American Heart Association.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
01. Meets and instructs classes in the assigned locations and at designated times
02. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students. 03. Plans a program of study that as much as possible meets the individual needs interests and abilities of the students. 04. Creates a classroom environment that is conductive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
05. Prepares for classes assigned and shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
06. Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
07. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and in harmony with the goals establishes clear objectives for all lessons units and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
08. Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
09. Strives to implement by instructions and action the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
10. Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
11. Diagnoses the learning disabilities of students on a regular basis and seeking the assistance of district specialists as required.
12. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students equipment materials and facilities.
13. Maintains accurate complete and correct records as required by law district policy and administrative regulation.
14. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and for the classroom develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
15. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for educational-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
16. Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for Assistant Teacher(s) and volunteer(s) and cooperatively with department heads evaluates their job performance.
17. Strives to maintain and improve professional competence.
18. Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required.
19. Performs additional duties as assigned and directed by the Principal.
Terms of Employment: 187 Days
Evaluation: Subject to provisions of School Board policies on performance evaluations
