Position Overview
We are seeking a Lead Electronic Security Technician to support installation and service of access control video surveillance and integrated security systems. This is a working lead role where the technician will execute in the field while also leading job sites mentoring junior technicians and ensuring projects are completed to spec on time and at a high standard. Technicians spend approximately 90% of their time in the field and 10% handling documentation coordination and internal communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead installation of access control CCTV and integrated security systems from drawings and specifications
- Oversee and support junior technicians in the field including install quality troubleshooting and training
- Program and commission access control panels IP cameras and network-connected devices
- Troubleshoot and resolve service issues across security and low-voltage systems
- Serve as the primary field point of contact for project managers and clients during installations
- Ensure accurate completion of job documentation testing and closeout checklists
- Train end users on system functionality after installation
- Support occasional after-hours or emergency service calls as needed
Systems and Technologies
- Experience with access control platforms such as Lenel Genetec Avigilon Honeywell or similar
- Experience with IP video surveillance systems
- Knowledge of low-voltage systems including structured cabling such as Cat5e and Cat6
- Basic networking knowledge including IP addressing switches and connectivity troubleshooting
- Experience with gate operators turnstiles or parking systems is a plus
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of hands-on experience installing and servicing electronic security systems
- Proven ability to lead projects or crews in the field
- Strong troubleshooting skills across low-voltage and IP-based systems
- Experience with system programming and commissioning not just installation
- Solid understanding of electrical circuits and relay logic
- Comfortable working independently and making field decisions
- Professional communication skills with clients and internal teams
- Valid drivers license and ability to pass background and drug screening
Preferred
- Experience with enterprise systems such as Genetec Lenel or Avigilon
- NICET ESA or manufacturer certifications
- Experience working for a security integrator
