Job Summary

Columbus Technical College is seeking an individual to serve as an adjunct instructor for math. Under general supervision this individual will prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction; evaluate students progress in attaining goals objectives and student learning outcomes; academically advise students; attend faculty development training workshops seminars and conferences as needed. Further requirements include assisting with recruitment retention job placement efforts and sustaining a credible advisory board for the program. This position is on campus and requires day and evening instruction. This position is part-time/ exempt. This position is part-time/exempt.

Please note the following information regarding this position:

  1. May be required to teach high school students
  2. May require occasional weekends
  3. May require teaching on or off campus throughout our service delivery area (Muscogee County Stewart County Quitman County Chattahoochee County Harris County and Talbot County)
  4. May require travel
Responsibilities
  • Organizes and conducts classes using a variety of learning experiences and activities
  • Ensures adherence to technical college safety requirements in classrooms by following established procedures
  • Evaluates students progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Follows state standards in developing course outlines goals and objectives
  • Ensures consistency in syllabi lesson plans tests and other appropriate course work
  • Accepts direction and feedback from supervisor and follows through appropriately
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude toward students
  • Demonstrates current and comprehensive knowledge of the subject areas to be taught
  • Communicates students progress to students and appropriate personnel and according to established guidelines
  • Accurately records pertinent information in students records as required
  • Prepares and maintains all required documentation and administrative reports and submits in a timely manner
  • Shows flexibility in response to process change and adapts to and accommodates new methods and procedures
  • Works when scheduled; begins and ends work as expected; calls in according to policy when arriving late for when or when absent; uses work time appropriately
  • Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training workshops seminars and conferences and by reading professional literature
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • General Computer knowledge (Microsoft Office Products)
  • Performs other duties as assigned in the fulfillment of the needs philosophy and purpose of Columbus Technical College
Minimum Qualifications
  • A Masters Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in Psychology
-OR-
  • A Masters Degree from a regionally accredited college or university with a concentration a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours or 27 graduate quarter hours in Psychology
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with instruction in a postsecondary setting and experience with learning management systems.
  • Experience with analyzing student learning outcomes and course data.

Salary/Benefits
Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
