Monday - Friday
6:00 AM to 2:30 PM with some OT.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Safety and Quality concerns are paramount. Tank Farm Receiving Warehouse Operators handle raw materials pull and provide samples to the Quality Control Department record data / paperwork and operate a forklift. Will operate an Ottawa Yard tractor to back semi-trailer. Will also be cross trained on other tasks & functions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gauges quantity of chemicals in tanks using the ERP System steel tape or rod and conversion tables.
Will draw samples of chemicals for QC laboratory analysis.
Will make all the necessary connections from the incoming Bulk tank trucks turns valves and start pumps or air to transfer liquid chemicals to specified tanks.
Maintains records of materials received and distributed gauge readings pumping time and storage dates.
Patrols tank farm area to inspect pumps motors valves piping and electrical ground-wire connections.
Reports leaks temperature and pressure abnormalities and other potential hazards.
Will draw samples of all rainwater catch basins/pits for water quality testing and discharge once approvals have been given.
Monitor and maintain water levels according to work instructions at all dock locations during times of inclement weather.
Will operate yard truck to set and remove Semi-trailers to and from docks.
Will ensure that all outgoing trailers are staged and chocked at the correct dock locations as requested by Transportation Scheduling.
Will ensure that all pallets drums totes and pails are delivered to the correct dock locations as well as the correct storage location or production unit.
Will Operate a Forklift
Will maintain good housekeeping throughout the tank farm insuring that:
All diking areas and catch containers are emptied on a regular basis.
All debris is picked up.
All waste oil containers are emptied.
All Labeling and Placarding is legible and in good condition on all Bulk storage tanks and transfer lines.
When not performing tank farm functions the tank farm operator will:
Assist in the maintenance and routine upkeep of all tank farm equipment where possible and submit maintenance requests where necessary.
Assist in the basic receiving functions of unloading trucks at the dock and staging product in the correct quarantine location.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
3 months experience in a tank farm and receiving warehouse operations
Previous experience operating a forklift
Must be capable of performing tasks from ground level to 30 feet above ground
Must be capable of lifting 55 pounds with some regularity
Ability to collaborate effectively and efficiently with colleagues
Strong communication skills and time management
