Eminent Domain Associate
About the Role:
The firm is seeking a motivated and driven attorney with three to seven years of experience to join its litigation team with a focus on real estate and eminent domain matters. This opportunity is available in the San Diego Los Angeles or Oakland offices.
In this role you will work alongside experienced litigators on complex land acquisition and infrastructure-related matters affecting communities across California. You will gain exposure to a wide range of litigation responsibilities and play a meaningful role in cases from early strategy through trial preparation and courtroom proceedings.
Attorneys in this position will contribute to litigation strategy conduct legal research draft motions manage discovery and help build cases for trial. This role offers a rare opportunity to gain substantial courtroom and trial experience while working on impactful public projects and sophisticated litigation matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support cases from inception through trial preparation and appeal
- Conduct legal research and draft pleadings motions and discovery responses
- Participate in law and motion practice including dispositive motions
- Assist in case development and trial preparation
- Develop evidence interview witnesses and participate in depositions
- Work collaboratively with litigation teams to support complex cases
- Contribute to strategic litigation planning and case management
Qualifications:
- 3 7 years of litigation experience
- Experience or demonstrated interest in real estate and eminent domain litigation
- Prior experience in public entity land acquisition or related litigation
- Strong background in law and motion practice including dispositive motions
- Experience helping prepare cases for trial including witness preparation and evidence development
- Excellent academic credentials
- Exceptional legal research and writing skills
- Strong analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented environment
- A strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality legal work
