BEING Personal responsibilities

Wisdom

  • The RD is responsible for being sensitive to the prompting of the Holy Spirit to the needs of individual students and to relying upon His guidance in ministering to all students.

Stature

  • The RD is to model a lifestyle committed to overall health and wellness.

Favor with God

  • Priority is to be given to spiritual wellbeing by selecting a local Christ-centered church for regular worship by developing a fellowship with Christian peers and by continually seeking the Lord in prayer and study.

Favor with Mankind

  • The RD is encouraged to seek supportive mentorship from other faculty and staff members as well as friends outside the Evangel community.


DOING Positional responsibilities

Administration

  1. The RD must participate in the RA & Leadership conferences and weekly Student Life meetings.
  2. The RD will meet monthly with the Dean of Students to discuss personal and job-related issues.

Professional Development

  1. The RD will attend student development conferences and webinars at the discretion of the Dean of Students.
  2. The RD is to stay current with student development theory and issues through assigned reading and webinars.


Relationship with Residents

  1. The RD is to intentionally build connections with students throughout the evening hours Monday Friday and seeks out those who are withdrawn or new to the hall.
  2. The RD will provide leadership by helping students to adjust to residential living promoting a sense of community among hall members and offering educational opportunities that enhance their development.
  3. The RD is responsible for knowing residents by name and engaging them in conversation daily.
  4. The RD is to serve as a resource and support to all students.
  5. The RD will conduct the initial interview with students who are in violation of EU standards pass on completed investigation information to the Dean of Students and offer support throughout the disciplinary process.
  6. The RD moves toward physical and mental health crisis and conflict.
  7. The RD assists students to connect their calling and strengths to RH and campus positions.


Hall Stewardship

  1. The RD will uphold the Biblical perspective of interdependence accountability respect for others reconciling differences and balancing responsibility with increased freedom.
  2. The RD will attempt to integrate faith with all developmental learning situations.
  3. The RD will draw upon theories of student development in recognizing the complex causes of age-appropriate behavior.
  4. The RD is the primary authority for educating resident students regarding university standards and implementing the same.
  5. The RD is the primary authority for the safety wellbeing and satisfaction of the hall residents.


Supervisory Roles

  1. The RD selects schedules supervises and evaluates the Office Assistants.
  2. The RD recruits participates in the selection trains and supervises the RA staff.
  3. The RD is actively involved in the RH government and supervises hall elections and events. The RD meets bi-weekly with the hall president to serve as advisor.
  4. The RD supports the Director of Student Ministries in the identification selection and supervision of Student Ministries Hall Small Group Leaders and works with the Hall Campus Chaplain and Small Group Leaders providing oversight of the RH chapel services.
  5. The RD oversees the financial operations and manages the Council of the hall.


Administrative Duties

  1. The RD collaborates with the Public Safety Department on Fire Safety procedures as well as incidents such as fire alarms unauthorized entry/exit and propped doors etc.
  2. The RD communicates with the Facilities Dept. regarding damage to the building or items that need repair.
  3. The RD facilitates check-in and check-out procedures within the Residence Hall
  4. The RD reports all room changes (including those who check out mid-semester) to the Housing Office.
  5. The RD oversees the housing selection process for returning students.
  6. The RD updates residents biweekly regarding hall happenings.
  7. The RD evaluates the health and behavior of residents as well as staff effectiveness via observation conversation and annual hall surveys.


DAILY OFFICE DUTIES:

  • Prep lessons and set agendas weekly RA meetings.
  • Plan for 1-1 meetings with RAs.
  • Follow-up with conduct issues related to behavioral incidents.
  • Visit students who were reported as ill or missing classes.
  • Plan and meet bi-weekly with the Hall President and include them in 1 RA meeting/month.
  • Oversee digital signage (PSAs).
  • Check your personal mailbox and oversee cleanliness of the mailroom.
  • Stay informed of Student Development trends.


WEEKLY or BIWEEKLY OVERSIGHT:

  • Report CARE TEAM concerns each Tuesday to Dean of Students.
  • Follow-up with conduct issues related to classroom and chapel attendance.
  • Complete the RD report for your Monthly 1-1 with Dean of Students.
  • Keep financial records up to date.
  • Plan for events noted on the RD Timeline.
  • Plan a Leadership Team (Resident Assistants Office Assistants Hall Council Student Ministries staff) meeting at least once each semester.
  • Develop an overall plan and calendar for all-hall programming and activities.
