A well-established structural engineering and building restoration firm in South Florida is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer / Director of Engineering to join its leadership team. The firm specializes in building design structural inspections milestone inspections concrete restoration and construction administration for condominium and commercial properties.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing engineering operations managing staff and serving as the lead Professional Engineer for the office. The selected candidate will act as the technical authority for structural and restoration projects and will lead projects from initial assessment through construction completion.
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the lead PE for the office and provide technical oversight for all structural and restoration projects
Manage day-to-day engineering operations and supervise engineering staff
Lead Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspections for existing buildings in Florida
Prepare and review structural drawings calculations specifications reports and technical documentation
Manage projects from initial assessment through construction completion
Write and review MasterFormat specifications for building restoration projects
Oversee construction administration activities including shop drawing reviews submittals RFIs contractor coordination field observations and reporting
Conduct forensic investigations involving structural failures water intrusion and construction defects
Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget
Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff
Attend and lead meetings with clients contractors and project teams
Maintain quality control and consistency across all deliverables
Contribute to process improvements and support the continued growth of the firm
Qualifications:
Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida required; Structural Engineer license preferred
Minimum 7 years of structural engineering experience focused on building structures
24 years of experience in building restoration forensic engineering or related work
Experience with Phase 1 and Phase 2 Milestone Inspections in Florida
Strong knowledge of the Florida Building Code ASCE ACI and AISC standards
Experience with structural engineering software such as RISA RAM ETABS SAFE ADAPT and/or Revit
Proficiency in MasterFormat specification writing
Strong communication technical writing and leadership skills
Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced client-facing environment
Compensation:
Base salary range of $125000$200000 depending on experience
