About the Project
The Government of Alberta is advancing its enterprise data strategy through OneData Alberta and Crosswalk initiatives leveraging Data Fabric and Data Mesh frameworks across cloud and on-premise environments. The Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE) delivers high-value data products including analytical models dashboards and enterprise data services to support policy analytics and legislative functions.
Role Overview
The Senior Data Architect will provide strategic leadership and architectural direction for enterprise data platforms and products. This role involves designing scalable secure and governed data solutions including enterprise data models data quality frameworks metadata standards and crosswalk/data linkage frameworks to enable a federated data ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead enterprise data architecture design and implementation.
- Define and govern data models standards and best practices.
- Translate business needs into scalable secure data solutions.
- Design and deliver data products using Data Fabric/Data Mesh frameworks.
- Develop data linkage and crosswalk frameworks.
- Establish data quality metadata and governance frameworks.
- Build proof-of-concept solutions for integration and orchestration.
- Lead workshops and discovery sessions with stakeholders.
- Provide architectural guidance and present solutions to leadership.
- Mentor team members and promote a data-driven culture.
- Support cloud/data modernization initiatives and evaluate emerging technologies.
Mandatory Requirements
- Degree diploma or certification in a relevant field.
- 3 years working with clients and explaining complex data concepts.
- 5 years defining technical architecture and data integration solutions.
- 5 years designing and implementing data platforms.
- 5 years across architecture domains (business application technology).
- 5 years modeling complex business processes into technical/data solutions.
Preferred Skills
- Business analysis and solution design experience.
- Leading workshops and stakeholder engagement.
- Designing scalable data products and analytics solutions.
- Supporting machine learning and data science environments.
- Building data technology roadmaps.
- Experience with Big Data platforms (e.g. Cloudera Hadoop Spark).
- Knowledge of TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks.
- Public sector experience.
- Understanding of data security and privacy.
