Job Summary

POSITION TITLE:

  • Tech I Show Control Technician

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides high-level discipline-specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of show control equipment for assigned Entertainment venues projects or events to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience. Ensure LAN/WAN functionality and maintain network devices across park venues and shows.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures LAN/WAN functionality and maintain network devices across park venues and shows including Day/Nighttime Shows and Parades. Responsible for repair installation and administration of network devices to include Show Control network switches routers and gateways as well as controllers and user interfaces. Troubleshoots network problems throughout all park venues and shows work with third party vendors and handle day to day administration of the Show Control network.
  • Research solutions for defective components and instructional information to complete the repair process. Collects and analyzes Network Performance Data and maintains documentation of network configurations and inventory. Cleans and maintains Show Control Equipment in all Control Rooms parkwide.
  • Function as crew member in the appropriate installation/setup storage strike and maintenance of show control systems. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead Tech or above and/or management as they occur.
  • Stays up to date on technology trends to advance production capabilities. Performs job duties as described in non-lead job descriptions.
  • Communicates and coordinates with other disciplines and departments as needed. Communicates resource needs and work plans to Coordinators and Supervisors. Provides two-way communications between work team supervisor.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

  • Technical school or associate degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

  • 5 years experience in the entertainment show control field.
  • Proven ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
  • Must possess knowledge of show control theory as well as practical training and experience.
  • Should be highly knowledgeable in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Knowledge of Medialon Q-SYS Arduino and Raspberry PI Programming.
  • Computer experience with basic knowledge of MS MSWord MS Excel a plus; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Advanced knowledge in the set-up and ongoing maintenance of A/V & Entertainment systems.
  • Certificates and factory training desired.
  • Knowledge of computer networking.
  • Accountable to strictly adhere to all policies and procedures as defined by the Entertainment Department governing the safe operation of all technical equipment.
  • As directed may assist in technical training and implementation of all training materials. Maintains and shares job knowledge and assists in developing Team Members.

JOB SUMMARY:

Provides the highly skilled discipline specific technical skills needed for the successful operation and maintenance of show control elements for assigned Entertainment venues projects or events to ensure highest levels of show quality and a positive guest experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Troubleshoot system failures and provide immediate and long-term corrective actions that will improve operation reliability and Safety. Involves researching solutions for defective components and instructional information to complete the repair process when required. This entails logical extensive troubleshooting referencing of technical drawings/manuals and specifications and tracking history of past failures and solutions.
  • Perform routine inspections preventative measures on show control systems and elements. Inspections include validating show files firmware archiving & backing up show files installation and maintenance software updates & calibration or replacement of Show Control components as needed.
  • Function as crew member in the appropriate installation/setup storage strike and maintenance of show control systems. Elevates any technical problems or concerns to Lead Tech I or above and/or management as they occur.
  • Provide data entry into a logged tracking system inspections corrective actions and/or repairs made while listing parts required implementing the repairs. Maintains venue specific inventory of show control equipment.
  • Utilize company resources to stay current on current equipment use in entertainment Show Control systems to maintain a high show quality.
  • Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
