Are you a real estate professional experienced in acquisitions right-of-way or property transactions within a public agency or infrastructure environment If youre looking to apply your skills to projects that help deliver reliable water to millions of Southern Californians this could be the opportunity for you.

We are seeking a Real Estate Representative II on the Land Planning Team to support real property acquisitions and surplus property dispositions for major water supply conveyance and storage this role youll work with public agencies private property owners and internal project teams to help deliver infrastructure that protects and strengthens Californias water system.

This intermediate-level position is ideal for professionals who understand California real estate practices right-of-way standards and public-sector transactions and who are ready to contribute to various infrastructure projects.

We are looking for candidates who understand real estate principles right-of-way practices and ethical standards of the profession and who are comfortable working with both public agencies and private stakeholders.

Candidates will have the opportunity to showcase their experience with public agency real estate acquisitions and dispositions; Right-of-way transactions including permits licenses leases or easements; title research and property analysis; supporting appraisals cost studies or market evaluations; and navigating California real estate regulations and practices.

The successful candidate in this position will have the opportunity to work on large-scale infrastructure projects that support Californias water reliability; collaborate with public agencies and private stakeholders across the state; gain experience in right-of-way and public sector real estate transactions; and enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule with every other Friday off.

What Youll Do

As a Real Estate Representative II you will support a wide range of real estate activities tied to major infrastructure initiatives including:

  • Assisting with negotiations for real estate transactions with public agencies and private property owners
  • Assist with researching and analyzing acquisition files title reports and public records
  • Assist with preparing technical real estate documents and ensuring compliance with applicable requirements
  • Supporting real property acquisitions and property rights transactions for water supply conveyance and storage projects
  • Assisting with right-of-way planning activities including market analyses feasibility studies and cost studies related to property transactions
  • Supporting relocation activities for property owners or tenants when necessary
  • Assisting with eminent domain procedures
  • Supporting the disposition of surplus property in compliance with California Department of Housing and Community Development requirements
  • Assist with land planning activities including researching and analyzing public records and title reports to identify ownership condition of title and property rights

Your work will directly support infrastructure reliability by helping secure and manage the property rights necessary to operate and maintain essential water facilities.

Schedule: 44/36 Monday through Friday/Every other Friday off. Monday through Thursday 9 hours per day 8 hours per day every other Friday. Start times are no earlier than 7 am and end times are no later than 6 pm.

Hybrid: Metropolitans current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational addition a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

This position may require coming in more than 2 days per week based on business needs or projects.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience: Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in a related field and two years of relevant experience; of which two years must have been at the Real Estate Representative I level.

Relevant/Related Experience is defined as assisting with negotiating real estate transactions; assisting with real property acquisitions or rights of way through obtaining permits licenses or leases; assisting with dispositions; and/or assisting with the preparation of appraisals or cost studies or a combination of both.

CERTIFICATIONS LICENSES AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this position may be required to obtain and maintain the following certifications licensing and registrations:

License(s): Valid California Class C Drivers License or equivalent that allows you to drive during your employment is required at time of application.
