Job Summary

Our client a well-established automotive dealership in Peel Region is seeking an experiencedFinancial Controllerto join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned professional with automotive dealership accounting experience to take on a key leadership role within a growing organization.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations including accounts payable accounts receivable payroll and general ledger.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports for dealership ownership and OEM requirements.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Coordinate and support annual audits and OEM financial reviews.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental budgets forecasts and financial performance.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards dealership policies and manufacturer requirements.
  • Oversee and assist with onboarding training and performance management of staff within the Accounting team (ie. AP/AR deal clerk).
  • Manage inventory accounting and reconciliations (new vehicles used vehicles parts).
  • Oversee cash management and banking relationships.
  • Prepare and file GST/HST returns and other regulatory filings.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting team members.
  • Work closely with dealership management on financial planning and analysis.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
  • Manage dealership management system (DMS) accounting functions.
  • Support sales and service departments with financial processes and reporting.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of automotive dealership accounting experience in a current or previous Financial Controller role.
  • Strong knowledge of dealership operations and manufacturer accounting requirements.
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting; enrolment in or completion of CPA designation considered an asset.
  • Experience with DMS systems (ie. Reynolds & Reynolds CDK PBS).
  • Proven experience preparing financial statements and management reports.
  • Strong understanding of inventory accounting (new/used vehicles parts).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team leadership and mentoring experience.
  • CPA designation or working towards completion is highly valued.
