The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a highly motivated Temporary Assistant controller to join our team on a 12 to 14-month contract. Based out of our Calgary location the successful candidate will be responsible for completing the Enterprise financial statements recording and reconciliation of Enterprise sub ledgers and intercompany accounts supporting capital and major maintenance analysis. This role will also oversee project accounting deliverables including cost capitalization and tax classification along with other accounting responsibilities as required.

Key Responsibilities / Results

-Responsible for timely reliable and complete Enterprise financial statements to enable interpretation of financial results.
-Responsible for the design and maintenance of the Enterprise financial systems structure to efficiently meet internal and external reporting and analytical requirements.
-Responsible for maintenance of Enterprise financial systems master files as well as the entry of approved budget information.
-Responsible for timely reliable and accurate transactional recording and reconciliation of Enterprise sub ledgers and intercompany accounts.
-Responsible for communicating Enterprise applicable accounting standards corporate direct and indirect tax and other relevant regulatory program requirements to staff.
Key Actions

-Complete and review financial and management reporting with Controller within required timelines and distribute as directed.
-Complete further analysis of variances and trends as directed by Controller and communicate findings.
-Develop update and communicate financial reporting schedule and timelines for relevant staff.
-Ensure monthly cut-off procedures and reconciliations of sub ledger and intercompany accounts completed.
-Identify opportunities and recommendations for financial system improvements for review and discussion with Controller and Vice President Finance.
-Develop update and communicate Enterprise financial system documentation.
-Prepare responses to delegated external stakeholder information requests.
-Ensure timely completion of external regulatory reporting and payment requirements including corporate banking corporate direct and indirect tax insurance and human capital.
-Manage the Enterprise capital asset ledger to ensure completeness and compliance with accounting tax insurance and regulatory requirements.
-Ensure completeness of master files for key financial systems including legal entity accounts receivable and accounts payable.
-Prepare and ensure Controller approval of standard recurring journal entries and supporting allocations.
-Prepare and obtain Controller approval of all non-standard journal entries including supporting information.
-Collaborate with responsible parties to ensure integration of capital projects plans within financial system to meet stakeholder needs.
-Implement and manage cash investment and financing strategies for Enterprise as directed by Vice President Finance.
Education and Credentials:

-CPA Designation or in final year of required work experience.
-Minimum of two years of financial accounting experience
-Experience in single enterprise multiple corporate entity financial structure.
